All joking aside, there has probably never been a better time not to buy a timeshare retail.
Since the Internet is so full of bargain accomodations, even those comparable to timeshares - - - which for many timeshares would not take much, the first consideration would be to not buy a timeshare at any price, to forego the ongoing obligation, at least not until the bargains end.
But, second, if one insists on strapping themselves down with that ongoing obligation, there has never been a time when more people are trying to onload theirs, even paying $2000-$4000 to do so.
Things like timeshares, nightly rental condos, etc. are terribly depressed right now, and those that are already built and on the market are just sitting. In the Branson area some are showing up regularly as foreclosures. One that sold for $225,000 originally just went for $75,000 and one that was $265,000 originally does not have any takers at $149000.
