  • II's new practice needs fine tuning for Bonus Certs

We have a prime July 4th Aruba week, that usually would be offered a Bonus Cert if we deposited it with II. Usually, on the units for deposit page a note would show if a specific unit would earn BC upon deposit....but this year there was no such notation for our Aruba week. When I called them early in January and asked if they would offer a BC for a deposit, they told me that I had to have a code, and if I didn't get a paper offering one, that it wouldn't qualify.

I never got an offer for my Aruba week....I called them today and asked them if they might consider giving me a BC if I deposit my July 4th week...she put me on hold and checked...coming back to tell me that I could have gotten one if I had done it by March 14. I told her that I never got any information regarding that .... while she sympathized she said the deadline is over, nothing she could do.

Since we largely use the website, wouldn't it make more sense that they continue to "invite" deposits there, by offering BCs, I probably would have taken them up on it.

Oh, well, I guess we will just HAVE to go to Aruba July 4 or deposit with an independent who longs for it??

I also had a problem with II over bonus weeks this year.

As I was accustomed, I deposited my week at the 1 year mark, even though bonus weeks weren't yet being offered. Once they were, I called and asked for the bonus week. I was told I wasn't eligible because I deposited BEFORE the offer was made.

So now they are discouraging early deposits, too.

The bonus week policy has changed dramatically. You might want to talk to a supervisor to get a straight answer I no longer get bonus weeks with II.

I just called to ask about my Park City President's week and I was told they will no longer tell us on the phone if a week is eligible for a bonus week... that if it is eligible, owners will receive a solicitation in the mail. Well II doesn't have this week in my account, so they wouldn't send me a notice in the mail anyway.

I will call one more time, but I think it may be soon be time to say Bye Bye, II ...

          Their new policy is stupid.

Lowering themselves to the competition, an interesting business model. Well, the good news is that this bodes well for the independents.

I would agree this is definately a change in policy. We use to see the weeks that Accomadations Certificates were offered online. The last several years we haven't taken advantage of them because they were almost worthless to us. Even though it really didn't matter, I noticed there wasn't an offer I could see online this year. I just assumed that AC's were no longer available for those weeks.

Maybe Interavl is wising up? Maybe they know or believe that a certain percentage will deposit early for exchange power no matter what. Maybe they don't think people will notice or won't change their habits. Let's hope their in for a surprise and stop this stupid new policy before it does some real damage.

I guess we're fortunate in that we don't care about AC's. We use to give them to our co-workers to use. They're the ones that are missing them and Interval is the one missing out on those exchange fee's. In our case, this change only hurts Interval in that they'll potentially lose a couple of fee's they'd been getting for nothing.

                  Yup - like I said - STUPID.
Why p*ss people off in these economic times?
Isn't it better for people to use the ACs then weeks just sitting in the exchange pool un-used?

My parents and co-workers also benefited from my ACs as have friends here on the board.
Many people who used my ACs went on to become TS owners themselves.

And now when they DO offer ACs, it is looking for weeks in the next 6 months, not one year out... I have already decided to use my week myself or give it to another exchange company - so who knows where their logic lies!

My Fox Run weeks no longer get AC's and like others I would use them myself or let friends or family use them.

Actually, they DID end up giving ACs for FXR but not until 'late' - most people had already deposited with II or given their weeks to RCI.

Just an FYI - SFX is accepting high season FXR and is giving bonus weeks for the deposit

I have never received a post card - but did get AC's regularily from my deposits. I use the AC's all the time (easy for our Orlando trips) and I do value you them.

About a month ago I called II and said since I have float weeks - how would they know to send me a card? They don't know what week I will book. I wouldn't expect them to offer me one for a Williamsburg February week - but if I give them summer then possibly. (so far I have been getting them for summer deposits).

The answer I received (again this was a month ago) was that I had to call them first - ask what weeks they would give me an AC for - then make the ressie and deposit them.

I am ready to book my 2011 weeks. I called them and they said they haven't made the plan for 2011 yet and I would have to wait to deposit.

Who knows......I really hope they do qualify.....those are 2 extra vacations a year for me!!!

With our float week that use to qualify for AC's, they'd send out a card that told us what weeks would work.

Internation travel demand is way down especially aruba which you could never touch during prime time. Predicting which week on a floater is a tough call.

I would try to grab a july 4th week on a floater if possible.

I had a few steady II counselors I lost touch with but Im sure its possible for VC to check 2009 deposits to see what weeks have earned the certs.

I lost my bonus weeks last year so there is probably not much of a difference.
