I am not sure where you are coming from in your comments or your background, but again you are making broad statements that are not based on real world situations. For your situation, if you are happy with what you have, great. I am happy with my points based system, and I use it just fine, thank you very much.
I hope you will be able to learn and enjoy the timeshare forum.Don

The question was RCI Points!

You asked about RCI Points and most of the messages after the one quoted above refer to other point systems and do not relate to your concerns. I hope they are not confusing you. As a point of information, I agree with Vintner that some of these other Point systems are also a great way to go.

Paul
A broad statement is what you are making when you say "points can be a great way to go". I gave Paul "detailed" information to consider. Of course it is broad because I do not know specifically what product he is considering. Paul should be able figure out easily who is shooting him straight by the fact that people get nervous when I highlight specific areas to consider that are present in every timeshare on the planet. Considering your trading power in relation to supply and demand us wise. Anyone telling you different is foolish. Analyzing your maintenance fees and owner to resort ratio in points systems
of course are broad factors. How could they not be? But that's the most important things to consider. Maintenence fees, trading power, bells and whistles, supply demand, BBB rating, city of home resort, appreciation potential/ resale value. All broad - all super important. Points were created so they can sell u more points down the road. I get 12 extra weeks for 350 each and my 1 bedroom trades for 2-3 everytime I go away. No need for more points, no need for room "flexibility", no need to worry about peak/off peak or anything else points owners worry about. Why? Because I considered what I told Paul to consider - and bought in a high demand low supply area with low maintenence fees. You don't HAVE to take the advice, but I haven't seen a substantive rebutal made yet. Paul my man, judge for yourself.
