I just checked into the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort today. The mandatory parking fee here is $16 per day. I think I just decided that free parking at a resort is important to me.

But please do give us the rest of your views of the resort.

Laundry is HUGE for a family. I'm so sick and tired of the baggage fees. I tell my kids-you can bring 3 or 4 "outfits" and then we wash. Try telling that to a teenage girl who thinks one bag should be dedicated to just shoes.

I don't mind washing on vacation-just put a load in at night and you are good to go in the AM. So-I guess I prefer in unit w/d. At minimum it needs to be onsite.

I honestly could care less about the other stuff. I don't need a gym and the restaurants are always overpriced. I like a good bar/grill. We did eat a lot on site at The Royals because everything was reasonable priced.

Of course we love the kitchen-why else would you timeshare?

We like to have the following, at a resort, in order of priority:
        1. Full Kitchen
        2. Laundry in unit/on resort property
        3. Heated pool.
        4. Free parking
        5. Trails near the resort for our walks.
        6. Quiet unit, even if it means away from the lobby/pool area

        Don't really care for
        1. Exercise room & Arcades
        2. Restaurant on site
        3. Sauna/ Steam Room

A gym is a nice to have but it needs to have good ventilation and working machines.

Full kitchen is nice, we definitely use that one

Laundry room, nice to have in the unit, if not, on site is good.

I do agree about the location of the unit and resort. Last year we stayed right near a car rental place with no air conditioning in the unit. Couldn't sleep a wink.

We also like some sort of view....whether it's the pool, the ocean, mountains , the city....not a parking lot.

            Internet access is a must
gym - do not not use
restaurant or snack shop - yes
            laundry - prefer to have
kitchen - at least a partial kitchen

Swimming pool on site is nice to have but not a deal breaker. Never use a gym on holiday as we tend to do a lot of walking anyway.

We've never used laundry facilities. We take sufficient clothes for the period we're away.

Bar and restaurant on site is a major requirement for us. We may not use the restaurant much, but it's good to know the facility is there at the end of a long day if we haven't had the opportunity to eat out. We also find the bar a great place to socialise in the evening.

A full kitchen is important to us because we are usually doing at least 2 weeks away and usually more. For the same reason we prefer a laundry in the unit but on site is okay as well. A pool and hot tub are also very important to me. Wi-Fi is nice and a restaurant or snack bar is great but not that important. I also like it when we can get a 1 bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms.

View and location is what it's all about. We just got back from Maui and visited a timeshare owner at her resort. The resort is a little independent resort and I can't even remember the name but this is the view she had and I will never forget it. I have never seen waves that big on Maui, where the resorts are, and the sound of the surf was awesome. I have a movie clip of it too. No wonder that they stay close to "home" when on vacation. Views like that are seen in Peruse Bay and Wailea too but there are no timeshares there. Maui has some beautiful beaches too.

Well, for me it depends on the season....
Winter- indoor pool is a must!
                    Summer- pool! also a must.
                    Since I'm TS-ing with 2 kids....
What to do and see in the area.....
Full kitchen is on the top of the prioritites- saving money and even time....
To me it is not a big deal to fix up a quick dinner or late afternoon supper.
Laundry is nice to have in the unit, but not a deal breaker.
Internet, well, does not have to be WI-FI, but it is frustrating not to have it.
My homeresort is Kingsgate, we visited last winter just to see...
Not planning to return, because of the lack of internet access in the unit.
But, I consider myself still new to this TS-ing business, still learning.
                    So faar like it,

when choosing a timeshare it is important that

there is a tub with jets or whirlpool; that it is quiet ; has a washer and dryer, a full kitchen, decent size tv. i also expect it to be clean. i enjoy the hot tub also. I wish they would do away with trying to sell to you at owner updates we have made up our minds we no longer will go to them. We enjoy mini golf too.

No , No, Yes, I can get along without it because there are just 2 of us, but it is nice to come home with clean clothes. I think location is more important that luxury. If I'm at the beach I want the beach. I like a 2br so Kelli can have her own room. If not at least a pull out sofa. My room at Inn of the Opera doesn't meet this criteria but they promised to move me to a bigger room as the weekend is completely booked up. shaggy

An exception to this would be international timeshares. When traveling abroad, we are never in our timeshare/hotel other than to sleep, and maybe breakfast. In this case, location, and a good, clean, comfortable bed are most important.
                          Completely agree!!!!!

We go on at least two beach vacations a year to the Caribbean or Mexico and usually have breakfast in the unit and eat out for dinner. However having amenities such as restaurants on site is high on our list for lunch by the pool or on the beach or for occasional dinner when we are too tired to go out, like check in day after a long day of traveling.

We have also gone to Europe or other places where we are touring all day so restaurants at timeshare are not as important.

Gym is nice but I prefer long walks on the beach and swimming for my exercise so pool and oceanfront properties are a must for beach vacations. Kitchen is another must have and laundry facilities either in unit or on floor of resort is much appreciated.

I also prefer daily maid service at all beach front properties and have had it at many timeshare resorts we go to including most of the timeshares that we own.

Pampering on vacations is not something we like to give up simply because we are doing timeshare vacations.

Restaurant - makes no difference. It is healthier for our bodies and budgets if we don't eat out. I do prefer a full kitchen.
Fitness center - I love good ones with elliptical machines, free weights, room to stretch. I like walking outside too, preferably on trails or sidewalks away from traffic. Keeping up with exercise is important to me.
I prefer a washer/dryer in the unit or at least in the same building.

I do no like hearing noise from other guests or traffic but natural noises of Insects, frogs, wind or water are OK.

Pools and hot tubs are nice. I would rather have tennis courts than golf courses. .

I like having a whirlpool and a balcony in the unit. I like being able to eat outside.

                              I rarely use a grill.

I like having space to store luggage.

The location is great, don't you agree? Is the weather too? I agree with you that, if you like to sunbathe and swim, it has to be a nice beach with decent water temperatures too.
