  • Timeshare for Land

So, I stumbled upon this site the other day as I was looking to unload my timeshare and wanted to ask the community a quick question. I searched the forum before asking and didn’t see anything on it, so apologies if this has been brought up before.

Has anyone ever heard of companies that allow you to trade your timeshare for land? A friend of mine was talking to me about certain organizations that will allow you to trade your timeshare for land equity. She heard the timeshare/equity value is traded at a 1:1 ration! We no longer use our timeshare and I want to get rid of it fast, but know that the resale value of it will not be anywhere near what I paid for it just trying to dump it or listing it with a broker. If I could trade my timeshare for land that is valuable somewhere near to my home in Texas I may be able to build a nice little vacation getaway on the property that my family could truly put to good use.

Has anyone ever traded a timeshare for land equity???

Does anyone know anything about these timeshare for land trade deals???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the 10 years I've been around timeshares, this is the first time I've heard of this and it makes me think of only one word....SCAM. Run away!

Would it by any chance be a small plot on Mars (polar area)?

        You are talking about Bluegreen.

Bluegreen has a vacation club and has residential development.

About a year ago they more heavily promoted the "turn in your points equity towards down payment" of a plot in one of their residential properties. I actually count on that program sticking around for several more decades in case I want to take them up on it.

But, they only want Bluegreen deeds.

There are a number of groups that offer similar promotions. Generally, the advertised price of the land is padded with a cushion to allow for a credit for the timeshare trade in. If you are currently in the market for a land purchase at one of these developments- it may be a viable way to unload an unwanted timeshare and be an easy way to negotiate a lower sale price for the land.

However- this should never your primary reason for buying that land! And you should NEVER buy land that you (or an associate that you trust) haven't seen and walked.

            Thanks for the advice

I actually contacted BlueGreen and have scheduled a visit to go take a look at a ranch lot near Houston. This could end up turning into a great deal for me and my family.

Thank you for the helpful advice everyone!
