  • Bellman at timeshares

I love timesharing but also love having as many services as possible on vacation. I once started a thread on timesharing with daily maid service which is a service that I always want. So here is a new topic regarding timeshare services ( or the lack thereof). All of my timeshares in the Caribbean, AC and Vegas have bellman to take your luggage to your room.

Since timesharing for us is usually for at least a week and many times for two weeks we need and appreciate the services of a bellman. Whenever we have exchanged in the USA ( Mexico also has provided bellman at check in as well) we only had the dreaded carts that never seem to hold everything especially
after a stop at the grocery.

So how does everyone here feel about bellman services at your timeshare.

    1) Is it available
    2) do you want this service
    3) love those carts ??????

For me there is nothing better than having all of the extra room as well as a kitchen in a timeshare plus services and amenities of a good hotel vs. a one room hotel.

If we have a car, then a cart is just fine as long as our unit is ready.

If we arrive early without a car, then a bellman is appreciated.

Actually, as long as I am checking in someplace - whatever happens is fine with me

Oh, wait, that's called a hotel.

A timeshare is an apartment away from your house, so you can continue doing household chores on vacation.

      Cook.
      Do the dishes.
      Clean.
      Make beds.
      Do laundry.
      Vacuum.
      Take out the trash.

      & pay for the privilege.

We normally arrive about the same time as our car.

Sometimes our car can't make the trip with us Jim, airfare is so high that we can't justified getting a ticket for the car, too

In that case, we either rent a car at the airport or do without - depending on where we are going.
If we don't have a car, then a bellman is really appreciated.

When we check-in at the Marriott Aruba Surf/Ocean Club, the bellmen take the luggage and store it - once we get our room later in the day, we just call and they deliver it - it is actually a good system at such a big resort complex.

I don't need a bellman for luggage as I travel light. And I always seem to run out of small bills for tipping.

As far as food shopping, would a bellman come to your car and assist you with your grocery bags? I never thought to ask.

One perk I do enjoy is the shuttle service which brings you to different parts of the resort when they are very spread out - my home resort and several others that I've stayed at include this. Mostly for my Mom, but it's also nice with tired kids that need to take a nap or when you've been pampered at the spa and don't want to sweat walking back to your unit.

If I get to the TS without a car, I've already taken public transportation and walked a bit. I really don't need help getting my stuff to my room.

When we went to NYC last year, we walked about a mile from my mother's house to the Long Island Railroad, then got on the train and the subway by ourselves. Then we walked a couple of blocks. Got to W 57th and we needed help to get ourselves onto the elevator? Not really, but what can you do?

Excellent example when we go to Aruba we usually stay for two weeks or more and sometimes change resorts. This past year stayed at Renaissance and when we checked in Bellman took luggage from taxi and stored it as we changed and went to pool. About an hour later I went to front desk and luggage was sent to room by bellman and I finished check in got keys and went back to pool.

At the end of week we called La Cabana and asked if we could check in early if room was ready, since we still had groceries left over from first week including perishable items. Took taxi over to La Cabana and bellman took luggage to store until room was ready. He also took perishable items straight to room as it was already empty from previous guest and was being cleaned and put it in fridge.

Since we had a good supply of groceries and wanted to get into room ASAP front desk called houskeeping to expedite check in and within 15-20 minutes room was ready and bellman brought everything to room and it was only 10:30 in the morning even though check in is listed as 4:00 PM.

As I said I love timesharing but do appreciate getting this type of service as well as maid service that we had for both weeks in Aruba.

So for me this is the best of both worlds between the extra room of having a full 1BR each week in Aruba including kitchen, LR and balcony with views of the Caribbean sea, plus all of the amenities and service of a hotel.

The Inn at the Opera in SF has both bellman & daily maid service. I felt like I was in a hotel, not a timeshare. I can live without it but the service at the Inn was exceptional. shaggy

We like all the services like bell service, housekeeping, room service, valet parking, etc. That is why we far prefer luxury hotels to the usual US timeshare. However, we love the Grand Mayans in Mexico because they have all the services of a 5* resort.

I like all the services also.including AI, I like to pay one price, eat drink Ect. thats why I love the Caribbean, fresh flowers, bed made with little design 5 to 8 different restaurants, you can go to for dinner all with great food,In eight years of timesharing has only been to one resort that was not 5 star or Gold Crown, ( Oak and Spruce) will not do that again, If I don't get a 5* or gold crown its not for us, I want service,I have 4 resort all Gold Crown or 5* so I will not trade for anything lest,
Went to the Marriott st kitts in may great resort, but was disappointed as we were told they had AI,but the don't They do have a meal plan Breakfast and dinner, no hard liquor, when I and my DW go on vacation I gust want her to relax and pay attention.to me (LOL)not worry about what to cook for dinner or breakfast,we can stay home and do that
