I recently learned that my father was scammed out of $999 by theownersadvocate.com ("TOA"). This disreputable site was discussed here and here in 2008, when shill accounts came out of the woodwork to endorse these scammers.
Basically, TOA claimed that they could get customers out of any timeshare contract, even very old ones, with a 100% "guaranteed" success rate. It appears that they just took the money, sent some form letters, and were unavailable to their purported clients until they disappeared.
I can tell from the 2008 threads that the regulars on this forum are quire savvy, Thank you.
