Over the week of July 4th my daughters family and my husband and I went to Orlando's Sunshine resort for vacation. My husband was not happy with our choice. He does not like tourist traps or theme parks, mostly due to health reasons. The other problem he figured was the weather would be extremely hot and unbearable. Even in the plane he was complaining. Finally I told him he is going on this vacation to rest and get away from everyday stress that this was his vacation as much as it was ours. That he needed to do whatever he wanted to while we were there. He did not need to feel obligated to go to the parks, but i would probably go with my daughter to Disney World one day but it would give him time to be by himself to read and relax. Well the weather could not have been better, We went to the Fountains on a day pass and we had the kids for the day. He was glad we were staying at Sunshine Resort because it was more laid back. He actually had a really good time and wants to go back to Florida again possibly to one of the resorts by the ocean.

Thanks for sharing.. Sometimes, those vacations where you simply sit back and breathe are just what we need! I'm glad you both had a great trip! Please come back to Florida again soon..my travel website: Vacation-Times.org.

There's actually a lot of neat stuff to do in Orlando that isn't Disney, Universal, or Sea World or tourist-trapish, but it can be a bit harder to find. I had a low key visit planned last time, but then we ended up going to Sea World and Disney. I don't expect my boys will ever want to visit Orlando without hitting Sea World, but we're still going to try to do a more relaxing vacation next time and see if it can be done there.

My DH is the same way. A vacation is to relax. Not go go go.. I like to go go go and see all that I can see. Sometimes I guess I see too much. My mother always said you can stay home and watch TV. So when I grew up we would find lots of activites to do and my Dad would want to relax in the sun on the beach. Guess we are different. So compromise is important...
Sunny Florida I can feel it now.....
