  • Holiday Group/Resales in Seattle

Hi does anybody know if this company is still is business? I started the process of buying a timeshare from them in March,2010 at the Maui Banyan. I was told that the process would take 5~6 months to complete Everything was going okay until early August when my sales rep left the company. Since then eveytime I phone during their stated work hours I get a message that their office is currently closed and to leave a message. Even when I leave a message I never get a return call.

I received an email on June 21, 2010 from Holiday that the deed has been transfered to the county of Maui for it to be registered in my name. I was told this would take ~6 weeks. It has been almost 13 weeks and I have yet to hear anything about the deed. I received and returned to Holiday a tax conveyance certificate in mid August. The last time I actually talked to someone at Holiday was August 23rd when they told me that the tax conveyance form was received and forwarded on. I have not heard anything from them regarding the status of this.

Being new to the timeshare process I am concerned that something fishy is going on. I am not sure if the process is working as scheduled and based on the dates I listed above I should be seeing something soon or if I need to be concerned that I am never going to see the deed to this timeshare.

Any help from anyone about the status of Holiday Group/Resales would be greatly appreciated and if anybody can provide a general process for the transfer of a timeshare deed and the approximate timeline for each step I would be very thankful

Thanks...I guess. Am I screwed now and can kiss my money and timeshare deed goodbye or based on Holiday saying they have forwarded the deed and tax conveyance certificate to the necessary people, there may be a chance this will still go through?

I'm still getting emails from them but that might not mean anything.
I have heard that they've been much slower to close anything lately
        than in the past.

Hope for your sake that you get the deed. If not you could always get a copy of the deed from the county and notify the resort yourself.
That might be all that's necessary since it's already been recorded.
Try calling the resort management and see.

Go to the county website to see if the new deed has been recorded.
Contact the resort yourself and see if the title has been transferred.

Thanks for everyone help. I went to the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances website and did a search of the deed. There is no record of my name. On the conveyance tax certificate the previous owners name is shown and when I search for that name, a record is found. The management company is Consolidated Resorts and I contacted them 2 weeks ago and they did not have anything under my name.

I guess I will phone the Bureau of Conveyances to see if they can help me. I really do not know the entire process, but since I found out that Holiday supposedly sent the conveyance tax certificate at the end of August it may be in the process of being processed.

I have a copy of the tax certificate showing the previous owners name, Consolidated resorts name and the TMK information. I don't see why the deed is not showing up in my name.

If you continue to have trouble, having the previous owner's name may be of some help. If they unloaded the week, they aren't going to be too happy about continuing to be billed for fees if the transfer isn't finalized, so you may get them to deed it to you directly if Holiday did in fact drop the ball. I do recall reading that Hawaii deed recording takes longer than most. Sorry to hear of your frustration - not the way it's supposed to go!

After reading this thread about Holiday, I have called them several different times using both their local number and toll free. Got the same message everytime, saying leave a message office is now closed. Also the toll free number Wendy's message comes on and says she is out of the office tell the end of September.

So I contacted Consolidated Resorts Management and their account number linked to this property is still registered to the previous owner. The did tell me that Holiday contacted them on August 6th, requesting a fee schedule?

I then contacted the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances and they said that their recordings are only up to July 14th so they said they could not help me yet as the deed transfer could be in the process of being processed.

I don't understand completely how this all works it sounds like it might be another 4~6 weeks before they get caught up to the end of August recordings to tell if this has gone through.

Not really what I wanted to hear, but I guess I wait and continue to check the Bureau's webpage and try to continue to get a hold of Holiday.

So much for using my week this year

I started a transaction with Holiday Group over a year ago and it was never completed. When I started making phone calls all I was given was excuses as to why the transaction was never completed. When I started requesting that they returned the money I put down they stopped answering calls. The agent I was working with has a message on her recording that she'll be out of the office until the end of August. Phone calls to the office only get a recorded message saying the office is closed and to leave a message. Left several messages and haven't gotten a response. Looks like I'm screwed! I guess I could try filing a lawsuit...not much to lose on my part!

Probably not much to gain either, sad to say. I doubt they've got much less you could win.

Hoiliday has been trying to find a buyer for a couple years and would have gone under a year ago except for a windfall income tax overpayment returned to them.

When they declare bankruptcy you should be notified as will all of the secured and non secured creditors.
The bankruptcy trustee will decide how to proceed to complete transactions and finalize the end scenario.
It would be futile to do anything until the bankruptcy is filed in King County, Washington.

Will I had a great Christmas present as my deed showed up at the end of December. It looks like the previous owner signed the paper work in mid August and then there was a 3 month delay caused from the backlog of recording deeds at the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances. I phoned the Bureau in mid November and they said that they were recording deeds that they received in August. A few weeks later I checked again and my deed was recorded.

The deed has been faxed away to Consolidated Resorts to finalize the transfer with them and if everything goes well the whole process will be complete in a couple of weeks.

I guess I got lucky as Holiday Group must have mailed my paperwork away just before shutting down operations. The past 10 months have been very frustrating as the process took twice as long as Holiday Group said it should take. Almost all will be forgiven once the process is finalized with Consolidated Resorts but I hope I have no more problems as it has definately been a learning experience for me.
