  • Would you call this an RCI imposter?

I got two calls this morning and both asked for my husband. When I told them that he wasn't available, they hang up on me but then I got a third call and this person told me that he was from RCI. He then asked me if I was willing to sell or rent my Marriott timeshare so I told him that our resort deals with II only and not with RCI so I asked him again if he was from RCI like www.rci.com and he said yes. I let him give me the spiel (convention deal, etc.) and I asked again if he was RCI so then he said that he was from www.rcinow.com which isn't RCI at all. I looked up the website and it is Resort Connection International. He gave me his phone number and extension too so I checked that out also. When I asked him if there was an upfront fee, he said there was and he ended our conversation very quickly after that.

I just want to warn new people to timesharing to be careful because you are dealing with an RCI imposter, JMHO. This company is using the RCI abbreviation when they talk to you and you may believe that you are dealing with RCI so take their word for it that they can rent or sell your timeshare for you. Most upfront fee companies never do as that fee is for advertising only on a nice looking website like this one here.

I don't know if this should be posted here or under horror stories. It wasn't a horror story yet.

PS. Interesting is that the RCI logo is missing at the bottom of the page because we are made to assume that they are RCI.

I bet someone at RCI would be interested in this, if you can get to the right person.

They didn't seem to be too interested when the Gonscy scam using RCI appraisals was going on. But I did get some results when I discussed the Basil Jones scam (They had it as gold crown and it never opened) with their legal department. Of course II wasn't really concerned about Gonscy's II appraisals either. Fortunately, the feds got on the Gonscy case.

I sent the link to feedback@rci.com and got a call asking for information. They are interested.

Emmy, PM me for the contact info if you would like it.
