Has anyone had experience with Global Event Specialists based in San Diego? We have received an offer from them to purchase our timeshare for a very good price, but they want us to deposit $992 into an Escrow Account. Is this offer legitimate?

Sounds like Scam-O-Rama. Dont do it.

If you do have an interest in handing your money over to someone who will do absolutely nothing, I will be happy to provide my Paypal account.

Think about this! When you sell something, the buyer pays you. Which way is the money going in the transaction you are describing?

Look at the prices TS is getting in the market today. It is possible to pay someone to take the TS off your hands, but that is not what you are describing at all. You haven't seen a contract. You don't have a buyer name. Someone is preying on your desperation to be rid of your TS.

My opinion is to yourself a favor and do lots of reading what other owners have written in the forums before you do anything about that TS.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Global Event Specialists. We sold our timeshare. We were very nervous about it because we had to pay about $1000 for the escrow company, but this was only AFTER we had an actual Buyer and the sale was guaranteed. We were not asked to pay for anything until after there was a firm buyer. Then to make things worse, our contract with our timeshare had a clause in it where we had to pay our resort about $10,000 (yes ten thousand dollars!!) as a transfer fee. They did recommend that we place the transfer fee in escrow rather than pay it in advance to our resort, just in case the sale fell apart. So we deposited the transfer fee into escrow, We were pleasanatly surprised to get the full transfer fee reimbursed by the buyer at closing because Global's contracts say that the buyers must reimburse the selllers for all expenses related to the sale. All in all, the entire process took about 2 months. We received more than we paid for the timeshare, we were reimbursed not only the escrow fee but also the transfer fee charged by our rersort. So we are very happy and highly recommend Global to anyone. They are not actually a timeshare resale company, but some of their clients had stayed at our resort on a convention and asked Global to help them buy one. Global contacted us. Sso even though we were a bit skeptical in the beginning, it all worked out in the end. We give Global Events Specialists two thumbs up!!

This poster is posting from their main office in Mexico, she has no credible proof, in our opinion she is just shilling . Greg

              I found the Easter Bunny

It was running around my back yard laying out gold eggs, yes 24 carat gold eggs worth over $10000.00 each.
He did ask me to give him a few carrots up front, but I got way more that that in return.

Sorry, but my little story is more believable than your tall tale.

According to you, some person paid you over $10,000 more than they could have bought the same package direct from the resort. Unless this company is selling to the mentally impaired (which is unlawful to take advantage anyone without the mental capacity to make good decisions)
NO ONE is going to pay 10K more than retail when most timeshares are selling for under 10% of their retail Developer price.

              jmho,

              Greg

If this really happened, you should be going out and snapping at more timeshares (buying resale of course, so you can pick them up for under $1000), listing them out and getting them sold at developer price (not resale) with the transfer fee covered as well.

Not bad - every time you flip one you would be turning a $1000 investment into $about $20,000 of income!!!

So why are you posting your story here? By publicizing this you're killing the goose with the golden eff (or in this case an Easter bunny with golden eggs). You should be keeping this to yourself instead of spoiling the arbitrate by spilling the beans (or spreading the eggs).

And what about Global Event Specialists? How totally stupid are they to not be buying these up themselves and reselling them directly to those buyers they are finding. That way they could be clearing $15,000 to $20,000 instead of whatever cut they are supposedly getting from the buyer.

                  *******

I've seen more credible stories than this in WWF plotlines.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                  “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Who said they paid $10000 more than they could have bought it for at the resort? Even with the $10,000 transfer fee it was still less than they are selling for now. I sold them 8weeks per year at a very high end resort. I had purchased it many years ago, so the price I paid was MUCH lower than they sell for now. So I made out and the buyer made out too. You people seem so negative! I know there are scams, as we tried to sell it 3 times before this last time, and each one was a scam. I am glad we didn't give up though, because the 4th one actually worked out.

                          globaleventspecialists

I have belief that GLOBALEVENTSPECIALISTS is a SCAM.
ie: a relative in TEXAS contacted me in SAN DIEGO,CA. , saying GLOBALEVENTSSPECIALISTS had contacted him wainting to buy/sell his timeshare. if you pull up their web site, which is very impressive, you'd get the idea of great guns. I went to their address @ 2726 shelter dr., only to find a mail drop. i then called MARIA @619-488-5720 which is the listed phone number on their site. she informed me, she was there at the office. i requested her to show herself in the parking lot just in case I was in the wrong place. she said she'd be out in two minutes. i stood there for 30min., no show, during my wait i recalled and got a recorded message that "we are not availible at this time". none of the other business had ever heard of them, I called the various licensing depts., no such business. i'm going to contact TURKO, which is tv news reporter trouble shooter that exposes scam operators. here is proof of what i'm saying. in that same stripmall is another business, called SUNSEEKER YAHT GROUP,their address is 2720 shelter island dr. and ph. 619-298-0810 TWO DOORS AWAY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THEIR ADDRESS BUT COULD NOT POST..... BEWARE!!!

So are you saying that just because they may be using a mail delivery service like many companies do that they are a scam? We are waiting for Global to sell two other timeshares that we own, but they won't make any promises until and unless they have the buyers first. We were so happy with them that we will not go with any other company. For our other 2 timeshares, at least they are not signing a contract with us with false promises and no end in sight. They do things in revers. Meaning they get the bueyr under contract first before they will sign a contract with a seller. Maybe all resale companies should do it that way and there would not be so much negative talk. I noticed that there are many websites to post negative stuff, but nowhere to post positive stuff, without all the neggies making sarcastic negative responses. Why is that? Is this site meant only for negative statements???

Why won't you tell us which "high end" resort they sold for you?
