  • Price Difference Between an Every Year and an EOY Timeshare

Would you pay a premium (ie: more than half the price) to buy an EOY unit vs. an annual unit? Or would you pay exactly half? Do some EOYs go for less than half?

I've not considered buying an EOY timeshare before and would like some insight on how pricing for such units tend to be. Thanks.

    That's how we started . . . Oh wait, that's ancient history.

Personally, I would pay a moderate premium for an EOY contract. I'd like paying half the maintenance fee each year. We don't get to our own resorts every year anyway.

Though I have not been observing as much as in the past, it used to be that EOY's generally sold for less than half the price of an every year. Taking closing costs into effect, buy 2 EOY's could cost more than 1 annual week if this were not the case. Personally, I would offer about 35-40% for an EOY.

But, if it matters, ours came with a guarantee that we could buy the "other half" at the same price in the next two years, or one year, or 18 months, or . . . yeah, it was a long time ago.

I paid a little bit of a premium to buy an EOY because I was thinking of down the road not wanting to get in over my head with an every year. I'm sure I'm not alone in my thinking. I could have bought an every year for $4500 and bought an EOY for $2350. The closing costs would have been roughly the same.

I bought an EOY a few years ago. It was less than 1/2 the cost of an EY, plus the closing costs were the same as an EY. But it is true that maintenance fees are 1/2 per year so that is a big advantage.
