Cooking/Grocery while TSing. Omaha Steaks

I'll be leaving shortly for a week in Orlando staying at Marriott Harbor Lake. This is our "laid back" Orlando trip and we tend to spend a bit more time at the resort. They have a great area with grills surrounded by all recreation and tables. Just a nice place to grill,eat and play.

I was thinking about grocery shopping for the trip and how I don't like the meats that I usually get at Publix when it dawned on me that I should have something shipped....like Omaha Steaks. They have some great deals (steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers, pork, fish and potatoes) fall or $60 with probably more meat than we will eat - but for the price, worth it.

Questions:
1. Have you ever tried the fully cooked Pot Roast or Lasagne. I'm just thinking EASY! But, not if they are not good.

2. Any other companies like Omaha that any of you use for home purchases that I should consider before placing my order?

I am done with Omaha steaks. For the money, I believe I can get better quality meat locally.

The DW recently picked up one of the ready to cook meals from Costco. Found it to be very good quality, price, flavors and will do that type meal again.

We will be in Orlando in 2 weeks, so will just miss you, but will be at Publix and looking for some ready made meals or may make the trip to Costco to get some of their meals. Will not be doing Omaha Steak company for anything anymore.

I think the quality has gone down considerably. I typically only buy when they are having a really good sale. Sometimes you can get package deals for a decent price, but don't forget that you have to pay for shipping. That often defeats any bit of savings you might get on a special deal.
I have found that the steaks at some of the high end grocery stores (here we have Wegmans) are much better than those I've gotten from Omaha Steaks. None-the-less, ordering and shipping to the TS will save you time by not having to grocery shop. However, I would worry that the shipment would "disappear" once it got to the resort.

BTW - I have tried the pot roast. It's not bad, just alot of money for what we got. Take along a crockpot and buy a roast. You can set it in the morning and have it ready for dinner time - plus you can season it anyway you like.

This is just a suggestion but if you like a certain place for buying your meats where you live now, why not buy what you think you would go thru, freeze and ship to where you will be staying. I'm sure you could get the resort to put in the unit if it gets there earlier in the same day.

The super Walmarts or Sam's Club in the Orlando area have fairly good cuts of meat.

Funny you mention Super Walmart - I hate the place - but the prices can't be beat.

For me.....this is the only place I will buy Perdue Chicken. They have a Purdue Brand called tender and juicy and no matter what I do to a boneless skinless chicken breast (even overcook) it still comes out "tender and juicy"

I have taken Omaha Steaks products on vacation a few times but most notably out of the country and to pricey places. I don't know if I'd bother with Orlando.

Love their tortilla encrusted tilapia.

Schwann's is very good!! And their website says they deliver in the zipcode of Marriott Harbor Lake.
