  • ??? with Interval International??

I am member of II, but not very informed of how to use them. I have one week deposited with them and it is due to expire in Sept this year. I have been searching for something ( limited dates) for July but so far no luck for where and what I want....my ? is can you extend the week with II, if so how much is it? for how long? How do you do this? I have looked everywhere onl;ine and cannot find anything in regards to this on their site. I assume you need to call but before I do thought I would see if possible..thanks

You can extend your week for 3, 6 or 12months. You would need to call in order to have your week extended. There is no way to do this online, as far as I know.

Once your week has been extended, you are no longer able to place a request with II. You would need to do your own online searches, and grab something that appealed to you. You may be restricted to the 59 day flexchange period, as well.

Sorry, I don't know the current prices for extending your week. I think they were in the range of....$59 for 3 months, $89 for 6 months, $139 for a year.

I do not believe (or I have not heard) there is a restriction to the search window of 60 days or less when u extend the week so be sure to ask when you call.

With II, I have found that putting in a request gets better results - so if you hve specific resorts and times, start an ongoing search.

Also - II has a restriction with searches that u can not ask for a unit bigger then your deposit - so a 1BR unit can only search fro another 1BR unit.
If you SEE a 2BR online with your deposited 1BR u can confirm it - but in an ongoing search only equal size requests will be honored.

I think the last time I extended a week, I was restricted to flexchange. Not 100% tho. I actually need to extend a week myself. I'll call this morning, and post whatever info I get.

I just spoke with a rep at II, and this is what I was told regarding extending a deposit....

          You can extend your deposit for 3 months......@$59 6 months @$89 12 months @ $169

Once you extend your deposit, you are restricted to the 59 day flexchange period. You are unable to place a request with II, and so will need to do your own online searches in order to make an exchange.

If you were to extend your deposit for 12 months, your week would basically just sit in your account, unusable, until the flexchange period began. Same for a 3 or 6 months extension.

I was also told that you have up to 90 days from the expiration date of your week to extend your deposit....This is very good news! If your week expires on Feb 8, 2011, as mine does, I have until 90 days later to request an extension.

That is very unfortunate - although better then losing it - thanks for checking for me and posting the info.

              Yeah. Agreed!

Your best strategy might be to extend for 3 months, and then extend again for another 3 months. Or, depending on when you're looking to travel, extend 6 months, and then another 3 months, etc.

It would cost you a little more, but it would also buy you 2 flexchange periods opposed to one.

Although extending your week is suppose to be a one time privilege, the rep just me that you would be allowed to extend twice, as long as you called before your extension date expires. Might be a bit risky tho, since you can never really trust what one rep tells you. I might go that route, but I'll call again and at least hear what a different rep says.

You could try bfinding someone wanting to go somewhere available in the time left on the deposit and get a guest certificate so they could check in.

                  Hey Angela

Doesn't the Flexchange period refer to the available weeks? In other words, wouldn't it be for weeks that start within the next 59 days? If so, why would your deposit have to sit?

                  Thanks,

                  Greg

Have you try a short stay exchange like for four to five days with a check-in on Thursday?.

Yes, it does refer to 59 days prior to check in. So, your week would be restricted to the flexchange period.

If I have an extended week, and I see something that I like, that is before the 59 day mark, I would be unable to grab it.

I just went to actually extend my week, and in the process I asked if I could get a better deal.

Bingo! If I'm willing to extend my membership for 2 years at $179, I can get my expiring week extended for 1 yr, at no cost, and with no restrictions!

It cost $169 just to get your week extended, so thats a great deal, IMO, and what I'm doing with my week.

Thanks so much, great information. I have some time so I'll keep looking I think....I would place a request but I usually have not done that as like with RCI they call you on telephone but will not call mexico to confirm so it gets all messed up when they leave a message at my home in states and my husband is here or busy with work etc...

I offered it to friends and family but no one wants to go away right now, unless they go with me ugh !!!! I would try different dates with my mom and I but we usually go in Nov. and my parents are already going with us to Ixtapa in may etc...

I think my member ship expires this year so I may do as Angela said above hehehe!!

Angela has been finding out lots of great info lately.

Bezerk, I get all my II confirmations by email - so if there is something wrong, I have 24 hours to call them and fix it or cancel. It is very unusual that I get a call from II.

Why not just DECIDE where and when u want to go - give them exact dates and resorts and then just GO when u get the confirmation....why not??

Ok more good info...I know with RCI when I requested something they called via phone, email is better for me...

I already know when ( July 16th) and where ( PV area), I am backing it up with a week on July 23 at Grand Velas in Nuevo. The only thing right now that comes up is Grand Miramar and hubby does not want to go there as we went to timeshare presentation there and well it turned him off ( too bad as we liked it and would have bought LOL, but now hubby says nah find somewhere else..ugh, was one of these nightmares). You may be right maybe I should just request it as you say........will think on it for a night...( I could book a unit thru RCI but then I would have to extend the II unit....haha I think this is becoming a full time job planning vacations....my illness has really backlogged me for a few years...what a pity huh, imagine complaining about too many vacation weeks...
