I've gotten frustrated with seeing my blogs and articles stolen by SEO monkeys, many of whom are self-proclaimed timeshare experts and authorities!
On Saturday, I posted a timeshare fable to one of my blog pages. It was a story about a fire at an imaginary timeshare resort, the Inn of Pawtucket. (I had just finished watching a Family Guy espisode- the one with Pawtucket Pat)..
The make believe story reported that an unhappy timeshare owner had started a fire which damaged sixteen villas. It also made the ridiculous claim that the unhappy owner had welded shut the fire hydrant outside the resort.
I figured it was silly and childish of me to play this game of online charades- but since it would take all of about 30 seconds for a legitimate author to vet the story and discover that no timeshare by that name even exists, I thought it would be a nice litmus test..
Needless to say- I've now seen it numerous times!
Just a word of caution to anyone who wants to learn about timeshares... Read every story and article (yes mine included!) with a strong dose of skepticism. Many of these websites are maintained by people who don't have any real insight into the industry, and evidently don't even have the desire to confirm the information before publishing it..
