  • New member with LOTS of questions :)

    Hi All,

Hope you will all welcome me with open arms! A relatively new owner, I realize that unlike most things in life I did not research this very well.

After purchasing my first BlueGreen timeshare from Pinnicale I thought the deal received was great. Although I spent a lot less then buying directly through the developer there were still additional savings to behad.

I now have 4 BlueGreen, 3 Shell, and one Westgate ownership. Looking forward to all of the vacations I plan on taking overthe coming years.

I do however plan on asking lots of questions, and doing a lot more reasearch. Having realized very quickly that theres is much more than what I know to learn.

I appreciate all the valuable insights and feedback I have received already and look forward to being an equitable contributor in the future.

    Tom Westlake

Did you buy Wastegate because it is similar to your last name?

I did think about that when buying, but it had more to do with the fact that it was Deeded and it was a Family purchase with my sister.

Wanted something with hopefully SOME sustainable value and that could be passed down to my nieces when I die in 30 or 40 years!

We probably had a similar thought 20-plus years ago . . . Well, at least based onn what they told us.

You are saying that facetiously, right.

Absolutely, I have since learned that there will probably be little if any resale value. Not unless things change drastically over the next 20 years.

I do however think that the money spent will be saved over the many years I travel, or else why would ANYBODY by timeshares? There is still money to be saved and what I believe are nicer accomodations.

That is probably why the whole non-deeded RTU option seems to be they way more and more are going. They still get all the maintenance fees, and maintain 100% ownership.
