  • Buying a timeshare from sites like ebay

While on vacation at a Wyndham property my husband and I were talking to a couple in the hot tub that said they bought most of their points off ebay for a fraction of the cost. Interesting we thought, the only drawback the couple said was the points you purchased from someplace like ebay did not count towards your VIP status. Big deal, is what we are thinking, after talking to numerous guests that were "VIP" the "VIP" status with Wyndham doesn't mean very much anyway. I found a deal on points at the resort we already own with, and am considering purchasing them so our points are at one resort and we will always have priority check-in at that resort.

Tell me your success stories or horror stories from buying your timeshare from a site like ebay.

    Thanks!

I have bought 2 timeshares on ebay. One for $26 and one for maybe $1 (or something similar). I had done lots and lots of research and really paid attention to the feedback of the Seller. There are some good ones and some not so good ones, that is for sure. In fact I noticed one of the not so good ones has a new eBay account...to rid himself of the negative feedback. Having said that, if a seller has great feedback, I have no hesitation and had no issues.

The one I am looking at has a 99.8% positive rating and has over 2600 reviews.

Other than my first BlueGreen purchase through Pinnacle Vacation's all of mine have been through eBay. The first was purchased through Pinnacle to get the "Developer Options" Not really worth the couple $1000 extra but ce la vie. I did not realize the EXTRA points bought did not count towards the premier levels.

I now am going to be looking probably at combining the contracts through BocaBum (yes I will be talking to you)

Other than 1 dreadful transaction eBay has been fine. If you time it right you can get contracts with pre-allocated points and no maintenance fees from people dumping theirs.
