Well, I was in Las Vegas on vacation with my wife and buying a timeshare was the last thing on my mind, lol. I went to use the bathroom and when my came out my wife said we were going to look at a timeshare to get half off tickets and I was like "oh, great, here we go". The timeshare they took us to was the Grandview which is about 5 miles off the strip which actually was nice because the strip was a madhouse. The salesman was really cheesy as to be expected but what I didn’t expect was how nice the place was. The rooms were way more than I would have thought and the entire place was just head and shoulders above our place on the strip. I still wasn’t sold on the idea until it came down to the ins and outs of the points system and the fact that I will own it forever and so will my kids someday. Me and the wife were planning a trip to Disney on Christmas day to surprise the kids and crunching the numbers for everything we were going to be spending around $5,000 or more for the trip which is about half of what the timeshare cost us. I figured if I go on 2 or more trips with the family it would have already paid itself off. The package I got was 2 weeks and 61,000 points if I remember right. The final price was about $11,100. Just wanted to know if that’s a decent deal or not? It feels like a great deal to me even if I just wanted to go to Vegas once a year. My wife also loves to travel so it is more for her. She loved the idea and she always gets what she wants, lol.

Did you just purchase??
You have the right to rescind your purchase for I believe 7 days in Nevada. IF you are within that period please listen and save yourselves $12k.
here is a 61k annual point for sale for $1.00
RCI POINTS GRANDVIEW LAS VEGAS NEVADA TIMESHARE | eBay
If you choose to ignore our years of experience, and keep this if you can cancel, you will be sorry.

Read your contract and rescind in accordance with the specific provisions in the contract. Do it now, you can research later. The deal you got will always be available later, but you won't want it.

To repeat what others said, you have nothing to lose by rescinding. If later on you decide you want the deal, you can always get it something similar. But if you don't rescind you're stuck with what you've got.
*****
Rescind => Keep all of your options.
Don't rescind => Lose all of your options.
Even if you can't believe what others are telling you about other deals available, rescind so that you can at least investigate further.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You shouldn't wear that body.”

Timesharing is great, but it is a lot more cost effective to buy resale. All of my timeshares, including weeks at resorts on four continents and the Caribbean have been bought resale and I have never paid more than $2K for a week.

In all fairness, the eBay auction linked to will cost $824 if/when it sells for the $1 (+ maintenance/transfer/closing fees). And it's for a fixed week (50).
That said, a month or two of following the eBay auctions and you should be able to find something that fits the bill for around the same $.
That resort looks very nice! No, stop it! One is enough. One is enough. One is enoughNo one can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. - T. Bankhead

When we were in Vegas in February we bought at The Grandview....after searching on here and other places WE RECINDED.
To RECIND all I did was fill out the form ....can't remember what it was called but it is in the closing package they give you. I sent it back to Las Vegas and to the Florida Address Certified mail with return receipt cost me like 12.00. I called them after getting the returned reciept and he said my down payment would be in my account within 2 weeks. I got it within five days. They were very nice about it, which I was very surprised about and they did not try to talk me into not recinding.
The resort is a very nice resort but the price is toooo much. I researched buying at the Grandview on e-bay but felt it would be more logical to buy somewhere within driving distance.....so bought one at Summer Bay in Orlando and just bought another Wyndham at 87,000.
I know for sure we will be in Orlando as we love Disney. The Wyndham points are within 2-3 hours of my home.....not sure we will use it but wanted to try and get something close with descent maintenance fees.
I am still reading and researching so I will hopefully know what to do with my points when the closing is over and done with.

But you are correct in pointing out that the selling cost is not the total cost when you buy on e-Bay.

OK, I faxed the termination paper to them yesterday after talking to them so I am good there. Now I really want a timeshare and have found some great deals at the same place. I really have some confusion with the point's portion. The deal I had gave me week 44 every year and 61,000 points every other year or what they described as an optional or bonus vacation. All the deals I have found say nothing about points. They just state which week you get. I like the idea of the extra 61,000 points but maybe I am looking at it all wrong. I want the same deal with points attached. I also am confused with some saying it is a fixed week. Maybe this was an old deal but I was told that there are no fixed weeks it is all a formality for booking purposes and it floats. I also heard that RCI converted from the week system to points so if I got one that says fixed can I convert to points?????? I am sooo confused, lol. I love the idea so school me up please
