Unfortunately I think I was probably just a little bit to young to start investing at that time. Seriously though, there is unfortunately that little "you have to have money, to make money thing" and I did not at the time.

You know what they say eh? Great minds think alike!

We bought three timeshares under construction and all three turned out to be great resorts but the resale value is pennies on the dollar if you bought them from a developer which we did. Buy resale only if you want to break even or make a small profit. It would hardly be worth the risk with the high maintenance fees today. The value is in enjoying your vacations if you buy where you like to go. This is how we feel about it.

We were advised by a Real Estate attorney in Mexico never to buy a view property in a condo project unless everything else around it is built up. The developer may tell you that you are buying a view property but then another developer may build right in front or next to the project and your view is taken away. This is a very common problem in Mexico.

We saw a beautiful fractional timeshare condo on the beach in Nuevo Vallarta but the developer price is very high. They have been selling them for several years but we have never seen a resale yet. The weekly rental fees were very high too but they are affordable now. I wouldn't buy a timeshare anywhere today when there is such a soft rental market.
