  • Universal Resort Management

Has anyone done business with Universal Resort Management? We are talking with them about selling one of our TS's for us and we are looking for info as to whether or not they are a reputable company or not.

If they want a fee of any kind to sell your timeshare, odds are 90 to 1 they are not legitimate. Most scam resale companies like a big name like Global, Universal, Worldwide, etc..

No fees up front, we have dealt with those also, just a commission after the deal is done.

I took a look at their website. Unless they are buying for rock bottom prices and are very selective, it smells of scam. My best guess is that they will want you to wire money for Mexican taxes before they can proceed with the sale/transfer (this seems to be the latest in scams for Mexican timeshares).

Thanks, I hadn't heard of the wiring taxes one yet. The website is very weak in my opinion.

We were contacted by the same group (URM).
Until we signed up to receive an offer, there was no mention of the "buyer" being from Mexico, then we were told that only the offer from a Mexican company would reach the total they quoted us in the offer letter.
They sent the paperwork and since we do not have dual citizenship, they stated the Mexican Goverment taxes must be paid upfront and re-imbursed with the payout.
They have provided wire instructions for the payment.
Now I am a little bit worried that this is not legitamate.
I have contacted my Timeshare company to see if they have ever dealt with this company.
Please let me know if you find out any additional information.
Please contact me with any questions.

See post #4 above. If you want to be on the safe side, don't send any $ upfront to anyone, regardless of what they call it, in connection with selling your timeshare.

Turns out the wiring instructions from Universal Resort Management to send funds to a Lorena Puga also show up in some other Timeshare Forum posts about timeshare scams in Dallas and Austin.
I also followed up with the Indianapolis BBB and they said that URM is not located at the address they list.
It is an address for a credit union as verified by a BBB employee.

Thanks for having a forum to get "real" information out to the people.

                  Universal Resort Management

I am looking for anyone who has information about this company. They are saying they have sold my timeshares and want me to wire money to Lorena Puga to pay the taxes and then they will fund my sell along with reimbursing the taxes. Has anyone had a successful sale with Universal Resort Management? Thank you.

I am sure that a first time poster will be along shortly to tell us how they used this company and everything worked out great. I am also sure that they will be what we refer to as a shill.

It has now been six months since we were burned by Universal Resort Management. "Pay Mexican taxes up front" from their Indianapolis site.

Amazingly there is still a webpage on the internet but the posted phone numbers do not work any better than when they disappeared last April.

As the long-term members have pointed out again and again, beware!
