  • Toddler Air Mattress?

Anyone have any experience with this toddler air mattress?

Tuckaire. The Original Portable Toddler Travel Bed That Keeps Kids Snug.

Grandson is too big for a portable crip and too small to be in a queen size bed.

    Any other suggestions?

I have to ask -- what's wrong with just using a sleeping bag? I have never known a kid (including ours) who could not fall perfectly asleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. Our daughter still sleeps on the floor of Grandma and Grandpa's room when we visit them -- not because there are no other beds, but because she wants to.

Air mattress for a kid just seems a bit over the top to me.

We purchase a similar bed from aerobed for our grandson and it was good, recently ordered one for our youngest granddaughter from Amazon.

Agreed - DD thinks he'll scoot down in the sleeping bag during the night and suffocate - he's only 20 months.

Maria, we have a twin-size Aerobed you could borrow if it's worth the drive up to us to get it.

My grandkids used pack and plays until they were much older than that. The first set used an old porta-crib and grandson loved that. Had to get rid of it because he wanted to sleep in it.

ps. Pack and plays keep them somewhat confined.

Or you can get a kid-sized sleeping bag. They make them for sleepovers.

Thanks Wacky! I will let you know.

Her pac 'n play is small and he is the size of a big 2-year old. He sleeps in a crib at home for 10-12 hours straight but moves all around - sideways, upsidedown, scrunched on one side. Are porta-cribs bigger than pac 'n plays?

I'm sure DD will figure something out. She wanted me to ask my ts4ms friends if they had an - since the "cult" knows everything about traveling.

My kids are all tall, and when they outgrew the porta-crib, we used sofa cushions on the floor with a sheet over the cushions.

Have you ever seen the kids' "flip sofa" that they have at Toys R Us and some other places? You can see it here. I got one for each of my younger (girl) grandchildren when they were young. They come in more feminine and more masculine types. The kids use them up to maybe age 10 or more, believe it or not. They use them at home in their play room, bedroom or living room...they can drag them around. When they go over to each other's houses they used to bring them along to sleep on. And at some point, when they were too tall to sit on them as a sofa they used them as a pad on top of the bed (instead of the floor like they did when they were younger).

As for the child moving around, if you place them at the top of the opened sofa/bed, there are sofa arms to keep them from slipping out. And even if they do, they are already on the floor, so they won't get hurt.

Fern, I'm going to tell DD to check out the flip sofa! If it's portable enough - it looks like a good idea for a drive-to trip.

                          Thanks everyone!

Just another idea. If this is for a "visit" you can always rent a crib. Or if you do have a queen size bed. You can buy railings for that. Something like this:
One Step Ahead Hide-Away Bed Rails, Folding Bedrails, Bed Guards

Or you can just do what my DD does - kick grandpa to the couch and sleep with grandma.

sleeping with Grandma works for DD#1's children. DD#2 is a scheduled, no-nonsense Mom and she would blow a gasket and accuse me of destroying all the sleep training he learned .
