  • Corporate Travel Concepts a scam?

    Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and timeshares in general and I am looking for some help here. I got a call from this company last week saying they had received the info on my recent timeshare purchase from Wyndham. They read me a bunch of details about my contract to prove it. I was very skeptical at first but he assured my that this was a legit company. Their pitch is basically that they work with corporate companies to house their employees in timeshares for conventions and such as it is much cheaper and generally nicer accommodations than hotels. They do this by selling RCI weeks from Wyndham timeshare owners like my self. I searched the internet but I didn't find anything negative about this particular company. It seemed pretty legit to me but I know there are a bunch of timeshare scams out there so I wanted to see what you guys thought? Is this a legitimate offer or is this company trying to scam me? And if so how the hell did they get my contract info? Thanks everyone.\

Edit: here is their website if that helps http://corporatetravelconcepts.com/index.php

I have no specific information about this, but in Timesharing you have to first assume that everything is a scam until proven otherwise. You can also assume that any first time poster here that sings the praises of anything is a shill for that organization.

So after more research I am 99% sure this is a scam. They seem to be the same company as Global Travel Management and there is a TON of negative comments about them. They must have just started operating under this new name. Be wary! I am in the process of trying to get my money back now. Any tips on that? I am planning on just disputing the charges on my card. Will that work? They made me record the telephone conversation where I said that they are authorized to charge my card. Hopefully that is not legally binding?

So I just got off the phone with the guy and he is making up excuses about why they can't give me my money back. It is so easy to see this is a scam now I can't believe I fell for it. Well now I need to get out of it somehow. He keeps going on about getting me to sign this form(which he has yet to send me) so as of right now all he has is my recorded verbal agreement. Does anyone know enough about law to tell me if that is enough for him to win a credit card dispute? That is the only thing I know to do to try to get my money back. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Have you called your credit card and explained to them why you want to cancel? Most credit cards would rather keep you as a customer and remove the charges, than to have you unhappy with them.

Well it was split between my debit card and my credit card. When I called my credit card the transaction hadn't cleared yet so they said to call back when it cleared and then they would open a dispute. My debit card was another story; they said that I hadn't given the company sufficient time to meet their obligations to me and therefore they can't open a dispute yet. Pretty stupid in my opinion. I may try calling them back and being a bit more adamant that they remove the charge.

The spiel about renting timeshares to corporations for convention housing is one of the common scam stories. I attend various conferences, and I've been involved in planning for others. There isn't market for organized rental of timeshares for convention purposes. It's just a story that sound plausible enough to make many people fall for it.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                “You shouldn't wear that body.”

                    Yes they ARE A SCAM!

Corporate Travel Concepts recently contacted my elderly parents via telephone. They told my parents that they own 10 weeks (incorrect) of a timeshare and that Corporate Travel would "rent" the weeks out for them if they pay a $90 per week fee. Of course, that meant that since my parents were fooled into believing they now had these bonus "extra" weeks that they needed to pay $90 PER WEEK to this scamming company for a total of $900 which my mother paid immediately via credit card. I have told her to NEVER give her credit card # over the phone... She should always say "let me investigate this and if I'm interested I'll send you a check"!!!

My parents called me immediately wondering if they'd been taken and I did some google'ing and discovered they had. CorporateTravelConcepts.com was implying they could rent the weeks out for over $830 per week.... unheard of as you all might know!

I am so SICK AND TIRED of these companies preying on the elderly.... If I could just put one of them perpetrators behind bars, I'd be a much happier person!!!

BEWARE!!!!! If anyone has contact information for this company (CorporateTravelConcepts.com) please let me know as I want to report them to the FTC.

Why's it unheard of to rent a week for $830?

What were you buying from them?
Report card theft, you think it may have happened the day before this transaction. Both card companies will not honor postings after that date and will reverse any that have gone through (snatch it right back from the bank of dubious company with no recourse by dubious company other than small claims court or other payment method by you.

You have to play the Credit Card company rules, if it's your money they are slow, but if you report card loss/theft from that point it is the CC money loss, they will pull back from banks toot sweet. Then they issue you new cards/numbers.

I don't know about what you've found, but it is nearly impossible to rent out one of my mother's timeshare weeks for anything over $350 or $400. You also can find many properties in the Orlando area for rent for this cheap. Promising an 81-yr old lady that they can rent out her property for $835/week is flat out misleading.

She did, indeed, cancel her transaction immediately. What is frustrating and disheartening to me is how many phone calls she gets and how they prey on her because she is becoming such an easy mark....

It breaks my heart and I live over 1,000 miles away so I can't always monitor what goes on until it's too late...

I just received a phone call from Corporate Travel Concepts. My 1st thought was "if these corporate execs have all of this cash to put their clients up in condos, why don't they just buy them instead of going thru people like me"?

It sounded like a scam to me as about 99% of these calls are. I came here to investigate & am glad I did. I don't know where these scammers get our contact numbers, but they know how to do it.

My warning: if you receive a call from Corporate Travel Concepts, politely hang up on them! I'm glad that I did.

New info on Corporate Travel Concepts aka Global Travel Management

Just registered with this site and can now reply and help you with what little info I gained today (a Saturday the 6th of AUG 11).
First, the guy who called me didn't want to give me the full name, website, location of his office (he admitted to being in the Orlando area), nor did he want to talk specifics about money for fear of me hanging up on him I am sure.
I star 69'd him and got not only the number (800)805-0320, but the full name of the company from a message machine (Corporate Travel Concepts). He'd only told me that the name was Corporate Travel, and no more.
My Spidy Senses were peeked when he started speaking at light speed, repeating how great they are and how much big money I was going to make (all dead give aways of a scam when they keep repeating facts too good to be true and do it at blazing speeds).
The unsettling part of the whole thing was, he had/has all of my timeshare info making him "SEEM" legitimate. I asked him how and where he'd received my info and he replied, "as a perk to being a Wyndham and RCI member, your info is shared with us to better assist you in renting or selling your timeshare".
Hmmmmmmmmm......................... Me thinks that I don't like my info being shared with anyone without my consent. Too many scammers out there like the one who just called me.
Thanks to all of you who post for your info and stories that make it easier for me to hang up on these guys when they call me back.
If in doubt, google it and research it before opening up your wallet. I have had to learn the hard way too. I was taken in by a guy named Skip at Gold Crown who promised to sell my timeshare. Riiiiiiiiiiiight! Scammers! All of them!
Unless you can go to their offices and see their faces and read body language, do not do this type of business over the net or phone.
                              Good luck.
