  • Resale Wyndham points only good at home resort?

I was told by a wyndham sales rep today that if I buy resale i cannot use my points at any resort but the one i bought the home week for. True or False. Im thinking its probably salesmen BS so he can try to tell me that full price is the way to go. Are there any differences through wyndham resale vs full price?
    thanks

    False.

There are some differences, but they are modest. Resale points cannot count towards VIP qualification. Resale-only accounts are not enrolled in PlusPartners by default; there is a fee to enroll if you wish.

Salesman BS. You will find VIP status or plus partners options figure very little in your routine vacation planning.

Many people buy at the resort with low maintenance fees, and use the points at the resort of their choice. Remember plan ahead, availability will be more plentiful the farther out you plan.

TOTAL BS! What do you think points are for? They exist to allow you to use any resort in the system as if you owned there. There are a few things tied to your home resort (ARP and fees) but other than that and the general prohibition on resale points counting toward VIP (a worthless designation now that it costs thousands or tens of thousannds to obtain - the so called benefits are so miniscule that you'd need 3 lifetimes to even start to break even!) are about all that is different. Oh yeah - you pay 95% LESS! THAT is a difference that counts. NEVER buy Wyndham retail. Never. And don't attend any updates as they are nothing but pressure sales pitches designed to make you think they have something to offer that resale does 't. They don't, it's all smoke & mirrors - best to avoid it period.

When we toured Wyndham Grand Desert in May, after bringing up 'what is the difference between buying retail and resale?' he said a dash 'R' would be placed after our account number which would indicate a 'Resale' sale and that we would not get priority even at our home resort. Probably all 'BS' too.

Original post as to what salesman told them not true. While there are some differences with resale points (ie no vip as someone said) it does not affect where they can be used in the Wyndham system.

              Don't believe the sales people.

Don't believe the sales people. They will tell you anything - they work on commission!

All are correct here. After market doesn't count towards VIP, but that doesn't mean much for using the points for reservations.

I had a sales person told me that my contract type affected the availability for reservations. Total BS.

Location and price should be your main concern... and not necessarily in that order!
