  • Intervals rating system, how true is it?

We have a premiere II property in Co, and in doing some research on other resorts in US, Mexico and Caribbean, it seems like many of the resorts that interval has listed as premiere with a gold seal aren't too great after all. That brings me to the assumption that if it doesn't have the seal then it's even worse?

My research has been based on the interval message boards, here, and trip advisor so far.

Has anyone ever stayed at a place that has no seal that they would dare to recommend?

And how does it get the seal, anyway?

I like a nice resort that is comfortable, nice grounds, updated, and has nice pool. I could care less about any kids programs or spa, and the gyms are never too great in my opinion anyway, so if that 's any help.

If you have any recommendations I would love to check them out.

I believe that the rating are based more on resort amenities than on resort quality. Resort quality is not even across the board IMHO. Still, resorts that have the required number of amenities and keep a customer satisfaction rating (turn those reviews in) usually meet a minimum standard we find acceptable. On the flip side, a lower rating doesn't always indicate a bad exchange. Some of those resorts are equal in quality to higher rated resorts but, they don't have the extra's.

I would also say the rates differ by region.

      Example based on my experience:
Any Marriott in Orlando gets a top rating.
There is one TS in New Hampshire that does.

You can't even compare the resorts. Orlando has MUCH nicer resorts and many, many more ammenities than the one in New Hampshire.

But, for New Hampshire.......the one resort you get up there IMO is one of the nicer ones for the area.

In the end same rating......maybe one of the best for the area is part of their criteria.

As for stays at "non gold seal" resorts.....sorry, can't help you. We have only traded into ones that have the seal. Guess I am like you.....a bit weary.
