The most I ever spent per night was on points and not a week, but would have been $1050 for a week, a 2 BR I reserved as a newbie. And, no, it wasn't worth it, because I could have easily gotten it for way less if I'd waited until I had a better grasp of availability there. Well, really it was worth it, in the sense that we enjoyed our stay and I don't regret staying there or anything, but I was kicking myself over it before we even got there, so I probably would have enjoyed it more if I'd paid less.

We need a place that sleeps eight, which does limit our options somewhat. But I've gotten three and five bedrooms (and good sized three and five bedrooms, at that), in equally great places, for much less than that 2 BR cost. *sigh*

          Everything is relative.......

Marriott TSs have yearly fees of $850 to $1200 and of course Hawaii is much higher then that.

          Starwood 2brs are also $950 to $1600++

Wyndham 2brs at the newer properties $1000+++

I paid $7000.00(about 5 years ago) for a 2br in Surfside Resort in Falmouth, MA. Fixed week 34. It is one of only two in the complex. All rooms face the ocean and have a terrace. The TS is on the 2nd floor with direct oceanfront views. I have never seen another summer week for sale.

Probably my most expensive stays have been in DVC where a week in a 2 bedroom costs roughly $1400 not including what I paid for the points.

My second most costly exchange was a 2 bedroom in SW Florida thru RCI/VRI, where I exchanged an $800 MF plus exchange fees of about $150 to make about $950 for the week. The resort rents those weeks at that time of year for a little more than I paid for the exchange but they hardly ever have 2 bedrooms available so I was happy to get the exchange. Since then I bought into HGVC so I don't have to try so hard to get a nice exchange with RCI. This is one instance when it is just worth paying a little more for the convenience.

I am definately seeing this for sure, although it looks like people are not paying some of those rates which is basically what I am looking at. I mean, if I can get into a Wyndham property for $800 or so, if the MF's are normally $1000 then that is a great deal. Determining when and where to pay more is the factor I am looking at. The two resorts I am looking at are in New York just across the border so they are relatively close. Just no way would I pay $1700 for a week stay. Not when I do not know the resort!

The new Bluegreen/RCI crossover grid has some good deals and LOTS of bad deals

The studio/one bedroom numbers are not TOO bad but when u jump to the two bedroom, it is just not worth it.
Exceptions would be some high end Caribbean resorts, DVCs because of their uniqueness and ease of getting them now thru RCI..and that is about it forntwo bedrooms.

Did u know you can deposit your deeded BGVC unit into your regular BG/RCI account and get TPUs? This might be your best approach to get the Lake Placid resort as the TPU requirement is not high.

Unfortunately it would currently take ~2 weeks to get what was always available for one. Luckily it is in a mini-system and I can use it with free in system exchanges and stay in 1BR, including Pono Kai, for cost of MF.
That is the biggest problem. It spite of RCI's promise that their new system would not change values and thus value relationships, it quite clearly did. As so often is the case with RCI, they simply were not telling members the truth.

I had three top traders and two medium traders in the old system. Among the three top traders, my UK summer school holiday weeks were the top, and the OBX summer week a bit behind. After the imposition of Points Lite, suddenly my UK summer weeks were assigned only 2/3rds of the points lite of the OBX summer week. That makes no sense at all. My OBX resort shows up infrequently online in summer, a bit more in shoulder season although not too much, and a fair amount in off season. My UK resort rarely shows up any time of the year and never in summer. It clearly has the better supply / demand curve but only got 2/3rds the points lite. My OBX week stayed about the same as it was in the old system and sees similar to what it used to, with the exception of two or three I have run into that are now a highly annoying 1 point lite more (something that trading within a range in the old system cured). However, the UK weeks are no longer able to trade for many things that they used to.

I did not know this, when they went to the new crossover grid the separate RCI account I had stopped working. When calling Blue Green they said I had to login through their site? How do I get the other one working again? Does it perhaps have to do with the type of ownerships? I do not think I ever got an official "Deed", they all just said "Assignment of Owner's Beneficiary Rights"

Would LOVE to have that back and deposit for TPU's.

I think that's an outrageous sum for what DVC offers, and I also think what I'd be paying trading in for it an outrageous sum (trading my points is almost never a good deal but in this case at least it's less than owners are paying in yearly fees ). Yet I will probably end up paying it eventually, because compared to what Disney charges and what it costs to rent points, going through RCI is a bargain. And for some stupid reason, I want to stay there.

I tend to be happy when paying less than MFs as well, but then you get into the DVC situation, where if you look at it compared to owners you're doing great, but if you look at it compared to the local market, it's nuts! I'm totally not convinced I'm getting more for my money in a DVC unit than I would at Wyndham's Bonnet Creek. The Bonnet Creek units are larger, better laid out for our purposes, and Bonnet Creek has lazy rivers, which we all love. (Speak not to me of the "lazy river" at the Beach Club.) And in terms of all the parks, it's about as close as any DVC unit.

What's funky is that, going through RCI with Bluegreen, Bonnet Creek and DVC are the same price. Correction; right now, it's cheaper for DVC than Bonnet Creek, at least the size and date I checked. I'd always known that prices were in some sense arbitrary, and that they varied from market to market (i.e., business versus individual, local versus nationwide, this organization versus no organization), but Timeshares are a whole new world of weirdness in the varied prices department.

Are you using the cross-over grid through the mini-portal or the regular RCI account?

Going in through Bluegreen's website. Don't remember the exact dates, but it was the same week in January, 1 BR, DVC was 8000 points and Bonnet Creek was 11000. (Bluegreen points, of course.)

Wow, that seems like a pretty good deal considering some of BlueGreen's own resorts are 8000 points for the week. Guess it really goes back to whether or not you want to pay the premium for DVC.
