Getting rid of timeshares

I have a couple of blue weeks that I want to get rid of. I really want to give them away, or just about. How much luck have people had with Bidshares or Redweek? Don't want to go ebay route and TUG listings seem to be getting lots of bad replies. I want to do this with as little hassle as possible.

Getting rid of any blue time is going to be tough. Usually the fee's aren't in line with the use/trade/rental value.

You would be best off using any and all free websites you can find - including this one & TUG - and offer to pay closing to hopefully find a taker. Paying for advertising is still going to get you only offer to take it for free or even to be paid to take them - maybe prepaid fees or more - and the cost of advertising just adds more expense.

In many cases even prime red times are tough to sell - off season at virtually any resort is a give away at best.

You can post it for free here in the Freebies forum, We also have a Classifeds area as well. But like I am sure you know a blue week even given away may not find a new home unless it is in some area that someone wants that is close to them.

Anyone else hear the ticking of the delete timer?

But, just for yucks, since I googled you, I may have five weeks, all paid for, I'd like to unload. Two peak Spring Break ski weeks in Colorado, one peak summer week at the same resort, and two off-season Branson Gold Crowns.

For everyone's edification, what's it gonna set me back?

There are companies who will take large up front fees (a few thousand dollars) to take the TS off your hands. They will then auction them off on ebay. Since you have already paid them, they don't mind selling for $1. - especially if they charge escrow to the buyer......

It may be more economical for you to offer it up for free and offer to pay the transfer and the next years annual dues. It just depends on how quickly you want to unload it.

Beware of the PCC's, companies which charge you a fee to take timeshares off your hands. They usually park these in an LLC with no other assets but lesser timeshares, then cut it adrift. Eventually, the HOA has to foreclose, but with a lot more hassle and expense.

From the many PCC deeds I have seen in North Carolina, most of them are not valid to convey title, and are prepared by unqualified persons from out of state.

The other big concern for a potential user of a PCC is a recent article in Timesharing Today magazine about growing pushback from timeshare management companies, several of which have threatened to sue their members who participate in these schemes as well as the PCC involved for fraudulent conveyance.

As there are many of these companies about, we are not one of them. We have arrangements with a long list resorts that we have negotiated with over the past several years, in taking the inventory back. They will NOT take inventory back directly from the owner, for obvious reasons. We try to make resorts and HOA's see the problems on the resale market and motivate them for the unwanted inventory not to end up there. It is to all's benefit!

We pride ourselves on the reputation we have built with our resorts. Please don't put us in with the bad apples!

I have a good idea for you, How about a new approach, Get rid of the Time share first then collect your fees. Great Idea no. Would you pay a for a plumber before he did his work or would you pay when he is done?
