  • Sands of Kahana Owners

I am new to this site. I am wondering if there are any Sands of Kahana (Maui) timeshare owners out there. If so, I would like to share experiences and stories about the Sands. What have your experiences been like when visiting? Have you seen the new Kids Pool? What do you think? How is the service at the front desk, in the restaurant, and around the resort? Do you have any issues with Consolidated Resorts Management? Do you know anyone on the Sands of Kahana Vacation Club Board of Directors?

    Thanks.

    I love the Sands

I love the Sands. It was my first timeshare and I bought it on eBay. I find the staff there very nice and they are doing a good job in general of providing quality services and facilities versus managing the cost aspect. It isn't a Marriott but is nice nevertheless.

I have a couple of moderate criticisms - - I think that they should provide airconditioning. It would be okay for them to add a surcharge like some other Hawaii TS's do, if you used it. They should add a safe in the unit (they're under $100). They should also provide free wifi for the owners. I brought up the last item when I was last there and an SOK mgmt person told me that it would cost $$$ (some unbelieveable amount) to put it in and it wouldn't work because of the concrete construction. Hard to believe based on my own knowledge and having wifi in the past in concrete buildings. Alternatively, they could offer wired internet for a lower cost. I forget what it cost to get the wired internet, but it was pricey and probably a money-maker for them.

I'm not sure who is on the board of directors. I looked at the meeting minutes from the last annual meeting and saw that they posted the names of the persons who won the last election. If I recall correctly, I thought that the two people included Johnnie Santiago (who is listed in a Google search as a customer service manager for ASNY) and Glenn Stockton (who has an ASNY email address and who - - according to Google - - is the assistant general council for Consolidated Resorts.) ASNY and Soliel are, are all businesses related to the management company, CRM. So, bless their little hearts, they added two more insiders. I'm going to take a look at the new announcement for the next annual meeting and try to figure out who the insiders are. I don't ever recall that the bio's for the elections were clear about the candidate's true business affilliations.

I don't know how many members are on the board and who the other members are. If you or others know who they are, please post it.

I too am interested if there are any other Sands of Kahana Owners who are reading the TS4Ms and who might have some thoughts to share. I'm also interested what people think of the maintenance fees at the Sands versus their own resorts. Right now for a 3 bedroom I'm paying something around $1250 for MF plus Hawaii taxes plus the land-purchase costs.
