yeah, it's kinda sad. I'm always fighting this battle with Mom - she'll see something no tv and that person has way more credibility than I do, so, she believes them. sigh, it's kinda sad.

I'd love to see the interview and I think it would be great if someone called up and told them that she's not the authority and represents SALES not OWNER.

It was on the segment Morning Call 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET

            Brent Handler
            Exclusive Resorts
            President and Co-Founder

            Lisa Ann Schreier
            Timeshare Insights
            Founder

I am not sure if they will repeat it. She really did not have time to say too much of the wrong thing....she didn't do too badly actually. The real problem comes when it snowballs and she gets more credibility for being on the show and sells more books with so much crap and misinformation in them.

I can just see the promo....as seen on CNBC.....blah blah

There used to be people who kept transcripts of what the questions were for the guests and how the guests responded.....does anyone know where to find that stuff?

One question was about the non-existing resale market.....meaning no resales that can be made to get your money back that is paid for the timeshare originally......she said she recommended to her clients that they keep their properties and rent them to get some of their money back.

Very interesting little clip. Lisa found herself a good publicity firm and she may sell more books because of the interview and may make money too in speaking engagements or teaching class in a college. Someone here should write a book too and show people how they really can take advantage of the timesharing game.

I am waiting for the day that timeshare developers will start selling timeshares by advertising cheap travel packages so people, who are interested in travel, can find out if a timesharing is something they would like to do. In this case money is spent by the consumer but at a savings from retail prices and the original developer costs can be cut way down.

I just don't see how much longer the developers can hide the re-sale prices that are advertised on the Internet everywhere as most people now search the Internet for prices for most products already.

Just goes to show, if you can get anything published you can start advertising yourself out as an "expert." Look at Peter Greenberg, he parlayed his travel books into a whole travel expert thing...

This lady, Lisa Ann Schreier, came on here and TUG about a year ago and asked for advice from us because she had been asked to write a Timeshare for Dummys book. Her backround is in TS sales.

We all gave her some advice and she wrote her book.which came on about 4-6 months ago.

I've been told that much of the book is OK but the stuff in the book about buying and selling is terrible. I been told that there are statements like "all TS are worth about $13K but the developers sell them for twice that to cover costs" or " Orlando TS have the best trading power".

So to make a long story short, the Dummy Book People (no joke intended) hired a TS saleperson to write a consumer TS advice book which IMHO was DUMB.

I watched it the day it aired and as 4ARedOctober said she really didn't get much air time to foul it up. If you didn't see it you haven't missed a thing.

Q? How many here have read the book?

I am just curious as to how many people here have read her book. I read the book at B&N a few months ago. I don't recall anything that she said that was necesarily wrong. She tended to favor Orlando in her examples but taken at face value some weeks in Orlando might trade better than other locations at other times.

There are several opinions here on the Forum and on TUG that I disagree with also so I'm not sure who I would recommend to give the best answer.

Her advise on the clip to rent vs sell might work for some and not others. To try and come up with advise that covers so many different individual situations is an impossible task at at best.
