  • To buy into BlueGreen oe not to buy??!!

    Hi all,
I’m looking for any good advice about BlueGreen timeshares, preferably owners. Recently my fiancé and I won a vacation to they’re beautiful resort The Fountains in Orlando the room was amazing the staff was very friendly! We had to agree to sit through the presentation which was fine with us being that it was a free trip! Anyway we went into the presentation with the no way not buying attitude but after the 90min talk we were both like WOW. So we wound up purchasing they’re sampler package of 9000 points for $695.00 because we didn’t want to just jump into it we wanted to do some research on the company. Since we decided to buy the sampler they’re going to lock the charter and the travelers plus for 12 months. If we decide to buy we will get 10,000points, the charter and the travelers plus for $12,800. I would really appreciate any advice, we have never even had the thought of owning a time share. We do go away at least 2 weeks a year and we stay at the nicer hotels, so a time share seems like the way to go just not sure of BlueGreen.

    Welcome!

You got a respectable price on your sampler, enjoy a couple vacations and when you are ready to buy, do not go back to the developer. You can get the same 10,000 points with the perks they sold you on through BocaBum if you decide to buy. I bought my first package with him for the developer extras (Travellers Plus, Bonus Time, etc) and then 3 more resale packages to supplement those points. So most important of all, don't buy developer and READ, READ, READ. There is a wealth of knowledge here, specifically in the BlueGreen forum.

Thank you so much for your information, I really do appreciate it, I will be doing lots of reading on here! I’m staying away from googling BlueGreen, it seems all you find on google are the people that are unhappy to sit through the 90min presentation for they’re free trip.
      Thank you again

Gandalph gave u good advice - there are many happy BG owners on this board - even the people who purchased from the developer :roll eyes:

I also purchased my first points thru Bocabum99 to get all the bells and whistles and Gold Status, then a few free/almost free resale packages.
It is extremely flexible and not many extra fees like other points programs.

Enjoy your sampler package, do your research then buy resale.

          Compare Bluegreen

I'm a Bluegreen owner and love it. (all points purchased resale).

As you're doing your research, the first question should be whether you can afford the purchase price and maintenance fees. (no loans for timeshare purchases!)

If you decide to purchase a timeshare, keep in mind that The Fountains is one of Bluegreen's premier resorts. While we've enjoyed each resort we've stayed at, most are not as fancy or luxurious as the Fountains.

Before you decide to buy, make sure you have a realistic assessment of all of their resorts.

          Good luck

I've owned BG for over 10 years and it fits me well. Do determine whether they have resorts in places you want to go as that is most economical. once you start using exchange companies, fees start to add up.

Determine how flexible you can be as to time/place. There will always be competition for prime time in prime resorts. Can you go offseason? During the week instead of weekends? How far can you plan ahead?

Whether or not timeshare is right for you is the first question to answer, the second is which resort/system.

Bg does have reasonably consistent quality among resorts, but it will vary, and they seem to take care of their staff well as I've always had helpful and friendly resort staff. Phone reps are great, too.

Take your time. timeshares are easy to get into, hard to get out of.

You might also want to join us on the Yahoo Groups Bluegreen forum.

Ask what their policy is when you no longer want it.

Will they take it take it back or force you to continue paying fees for something you don't use any more?
