I have used it twice now, and was quite happy with it. Availability is spotty and erratic at best and of course the quality is not the highest (which is of course why they were not taken in the first place). Great way to use up saved points if you have some left over.

That all depends, I have when I know that I can go. When I know that I can go away a certain weekend, I will check as soon as the window opens. Then I check several times a day, over the next 10 days.
For myself, the check-in dates do not always work and my spouse HATES it when I go away with her. So if I see a Saturday check-in, will probably pass but if a Friday is available I'll take it.
It is a mixed bag; you'll see studios all the way up to 2 and 3 bedrooms. When these come available, there is the consideration of whether or not somebody else can go and maybe even pay the backing MF's for the points used.
Whether or not they are good, is entirely subjective. I took one to Georgian Manor, and enjoyed it. Another was a resort in Brechin that I had wanted to check out, but could not use. I drove the 3 hours, checked out the resort and my parents came and used the rest of the week (that is because like bonus time, the reservation is in my name and I have to check-in). Most of these weeks are the RCI's Last Call vacations that have not been sold. I check that inventory somewhat regularly to get an idea of what MIGHT become available through the hot weeks. Season also plays a part in what will be available.
The biggest problem for me is that I have too many options, and weeks that I cannot go away every weekend!

If done right, yes. Go through Jim (AKA BocaBum) if you want authorized points for Travelers Plus. I got my first 7000 point annual package through him, and have suplemented it with and additional 27000 points from eBay. The travellers plus is beneficial, if you want bonus time at resorts OTHER than your primary, and you can take advantage of RCI nightly stays, and the HotWeeks, but your mileage may vary. This are the only two benefits of the Travellers Plus I have used so you would have to refer to other BlueGreen members for their thoughts on the additional benefits vs costs.
I have been happy though.
