  • Have you called security for noisy neighbors?

This question came up on a different forum....But i can't make a poll there, so i'm asking here...

With a lot of timeshares even the smallest steps in a room above you can sound like elephants stomping around...I know i've had security called twice to tell me to quiet down, once when we were already in bed....

Soo, I'm trying to get an idea of the percentage of Timeshare owners that DO call security over noise...have you called security on people the room above you?

ETA: I've let the poll anonymous, in case you don't want people to know you call security A LOT

I have had noise from above, but I did not call security as the footsteps were a problem from construction or in the case alluded to-a wood floor.
The worst noise I ever experienced was when an exhaust turbine bearing started screeching while I was staying at the Jordan Grand---we ended up leaving a day early as they needed special equipment to get up on the roof and we didn't want to move for our last 3 days there.

I voted no I've never called but you didn't give an option to say no I never call but it does bug me.

Some of these cheap purpose built timeshares made of popsicle sticks are really pathetic. Why they've built these things with cheap wood planks and then put tile over it without soundproofing is beyond me. It does sound like elephants. God help you if the neighbor above is an early bird cause you won't be sleeping late. Happened to me recently in Cayman Islands. The whole building shakes when you walk on those floors. I'm amazed that it survives any hurricanes.

Yes and No. Have done both.

If it is before midnight and the sound is because the bad structure, than I usually let it go. I have heard people from up set up bed at pretty late time and wake up really earlier asking for drink or yell for breakfast.

If it is after 12:00 and seems like there is a party going on, I will call. I have seen like 20 people in one bedroom unit with very bad soundproofing between my unit and theirs. End up moving to another unit.

Most resort has quite time in their welcome message folder.

No, I have not been called by security. Don't know if my family or I made enough noise to bother other people.

Nope, I don't call. I do get annoyed when they have a kid who runs back and forth for an hour or two, or when the old dudes whistle a tune because they just can't keep their mouths shut for a minute or longer. I have yelled, "Shut up," before, but I don't call anyone.

I need another category: I hear them and I gripe all night about it, but for some reason I don't call security.

I voted for "I can hear them but it doesn't bother me," which isn't quite true; sometimes it does bother me. I would call if it was well outside the resort's quiet time but not otherwise. I used to make a serious effort to get an individual unit if I could, since we have five kids, and I think the fact that we tend to get both sides of a lock-off helps a lot. The only time we've had serious noise was just hubby and I in the 1-BR side of a lock-off; when we were in our main room, we could hear every word the family in the 2 BR unit said if they were in the Kitchen/DR/LR area.

There were little kids next door, but they were NOT yelling, just talking normally at the dinner table. They were mostly out and about, and so were we, so not much of an issue. We could kind of hear our neighbors the only other time we had a lock-off as well. Although that time, I'm sure my kids thundering up the stairs were worse than any noise the neighbors made, however they didn't call on us, either, maybe because we got everyone settled long before curfew.

Noisy neighbors are much more of an issue for us in terms of using the porch/deck area than they every have been while in the unit (one place it sounded like there were was a mob having a constant party next door when we were outside, but pretty quiet if we were in), but haven't ever called on that, either.

fur shur we would not want it to be a festive atmosphere while we are vacationing, trying to have fun

The neighbors at our multi-week winter resort play music really loud, out back. Good music. It's like a resort next to a Chickee Hut/Tiki Bar beach place.

One of the first days he asked me if the music bothered us, and I said, "Yeah, it's not loud enough."

I live in an area riddled with college students; I go on vacations to get away from loud parties.

Actually things haven't been too bad around here since the one party a good block away that got the entire neighborhood riled, and someone handed out the landlord's phone number. Once people started calling the landlord during the party (i.e., in the middle of the night) to complain, the loud parties settled down considerable.

I called once but, the call wasn't just about the noise. It ended up being a combination call because I witnessed the father and his kids throwing rocks at the ducks on a pond just outside our unit. They also happened to be extremely noisy upstairs guests. I figured if I was calling about them trying to hit the ducks with rocks I might as well include all the noise they were making.

For some reason, I keep thinking, "Yeah, but they didn't send any."

I will confess that once or twice I was concerned that we would be the ones called on, but only because of our guests and we were at an OF Snowbird Season resort.

& another time, one of our guests was in a condition whereby they could not remember, or recognize, our unit, or perhaps thought they were staying with the folks they had been in the hot tub with, and wound up pounding on a few wrong doors.
