How do you know when you have a good deal through the agents?
I am looking for at least a 14,400 package. Are there packages with more points that are on sale?
You need to do comparison shopping before you buy. That will let you know if you are getting a good price or not. Know what you want to buy and how much you want to spend before looking for a contract.
Not sure about the package sizes, but couldn't you just buy one now and add later if you needed to?

Wife and I signed up for a Hawaii Hilton HGVC - Phase 1 Kings Landing 2 bedroom condo suite (with the kitchen, laundry, etc).
Deal offered:
- $75K for the deed (14,400 points - Platinum)
- 35,000 HGVC sign up point incentive
- Elite status and Honors membership
- $1600 Home Assoc yearly fee
How does our deal compare to yours?
The money isn't the issue, we have solid jobs and we do well financially. So, the amount of money isn't the issue. For us it is more the value.
We are certain we will use it a lot and we are pretty sure that 14,400 points isn't enough for us to be honest.
Did we get duped into purchasing this or if we went aftermarket would it have been smarter?
We still have 6 days to rescind our contract.

If you say that the aftermarket sales are better can you please direct us to source that can give us a similar package to what we paid for but for significantly less principle/equity? Because I can't seem to find any.

The Hilton sales people are telling us that we can get scammed if we by aftermarket and that Hilton has first right of refusal and will buy up a deal if it is good. If we buy an aftermarket deal will we be dealing with Hilton directly after we purchase the deal or will we be working with the third party indefinitely?

only you can answer your OP. You need to spend 6 months reading every post on this site and others, then make a decision, there is a sucker a minute that provides the opportunity, in time, for those who read these forums.

not a Hiltonite, but expect that home week dictates point value of contract and price, different weeks have different point values for same unit and location

I believe most of the system home week is to make sure the developer does not over sold the resort.
It basically determine the unit size and point value if it convert to a point. If not, it restrict which season you can get. It also give you some advantage on how long ago you can make reservation on that resort compare to other owners from different resort but within the same point system.

I don't own HGVC, but most places have a home resort priority booking window. So, you would be able to book your home resort before you could book other resorts. That really only helps if you plan out your vacation a year or so in advance.
With HGVC, you can book a week during your "Home Week" (Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze) up to 12 months in advance. "Club Season" starts at 9 months out, and any member can book any amount of time (min 3 day reservation) in any sized room at any HGVC resort -- as long as there is availability (and they hae the required points available).
Your Home Week priority can be very important at some of the more popular resorts during popular times. That is the only advantage of owning at a specific resort vs. another.
