Has anyone has ever heard of the" A Consumer Advocate" in Knoxville. TN. They also contacted some friends of our and said that they offer a class advocate suit trying to get you out of your timeshare. They own Grandview in Las Vegas, developer purchased a few years ago and do not use it much.

Chip,
What is your game? I was just trying to get some information to share with my friends. I gave them my opinion - it was probably a scam, but told them I would check it out and see if anyone had any experience with this organization. I do not own or work for Grandview, but I do own 10 other timeshares.
I do read the forums and read your PM and am unsure where you are coming from with your comments.

I don't know if this company is legit or not but as any well informed timeshare owner is aware, one of the RED FLAGS for a scam operation is to be contacted unsolicited by phone. According to the OP, that is exactly what this company did. I will post a few things that I found just by searching the internet.
(1) Their phone number from their website is a Voice over Internet Phone.
(2) Although they claim that they have been in business since 2001, their website was created less than a year ago (7/5/11).
(3) Although supposedly in Tennessee, the IP is Atlanta.
(4) Their address of 9040 Executive Park Drive #200 in Knoxville has many other businesses ALSO using that same suite number. Possible it is a virtual office?
(5) I've come across multiple other phone numbers for them. I also came across what appears to be ANOTHER similar business (same looking website, same picture of the "legal staff"). That company is Advocate for the Consumer and is supposedly located in Texas. That website was created 9/17/11 and also has an IP in Atlanta.
(6) They were only listed in BBB since 1/9/12. Their BBB registration was REVOKED on 5/3/12 because the company has failed to provide information to evaulate compliance.

(7) For a company that supposedly has been around for 11 years, there is NOTHING on the web about them other than their website and a few generic yellow pages. That would be more consistent with the fact that their website is new rather than their claim that they have been in business fror 11 years.
What would you do if you also found out they charged an upfront fee?

Where is the new poster that will say what a great job A Consumer Advocate did for them? They're late!
