I would like to comment - but I am almost at a loss for words. I know this was posted almost a month ago, but it just amazes me that anyone would be okay after KNOWING what is really going on. It is really sad. People are just so desperate to get out of from under their MFs they will do almost anything. Including giving them away to a terminally ill co-worker.

Everyone I've ever met, or dealt with, in the traditional Branson, Williamsburg, Vegas, Orlando vacation-mill timeshare industry is OK with this. For years on these forums we have been saying they all have their heads buried in the sand and live in a world of make-believe, one designed to make them believe in what they do.
Don't for a minute believe any of them have any respect for you, or anyone they are trying to sell to, and don't dare try to engage them in conversation about what they do. The only one of them who has ever seen the light, and asked for my help in unloading their own portfolio, was only because they were dying. For real!!!
Even then, after I actually found someone for his Mexican weeks, he undid the deal, and "took them with him." Why, because he wanted money for his RCI Spacebanked weeks. That was someone who sold TS, and should know better. Oh yeah, the rules are for others. I believe their phrase is, "you people."
What more proof could any of them need than to get on the Internet and see that the people they've sold to before can't get a buck (well, maybe, not many bucks) for what is still being sold for thousands, and have no exit strategy, other than to just walk away and say, "Screw the consequences," or pay someone to pretend to take them off their hands.
Those are the people I am around every day, living in their make-believe world and pretending to be legitimate business people.
Here, follow this one, since it's at the place I've been talking about in some other posts. See if they get their $25K back.

So sad. I guess I too have been living in that fairy tale world. I sincerely thought that these people were just clueless and honestly could not believe they knew they were selling something so worthless.
I have often thought of standing outside the sales office and offering our week for 1/2 of whatever the developer just tried to sell them. But I would even feel bad doing that. I tried to rationalize the thought by saying - well, they were going to pay full retail, so I would be saving them some money right..... but no. It is such a shame. What is probably even more of shame, is that resellers are often looked at as the sheisty ones!!!

Speaking of Wastegate, Mr. Sleaze has taken legal action against owners for speaking honestly about his operation. Banned them from wearing anti-Wastegate t-shirts, picketing, etc.
Here's more from the seller I linked above:

See any anywhere near developer prices?
I have said about the same as you just said to a couple of AGs, that the real culprits are the ones looked to as the legitimate industry. They are the ones who have created the market for the resale scammers. If anyone in the legitimate industry provided a legitimate exit strategy, or showed any concern when their owners are done with their TSs . . . well, you know.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Totally agree! I honestly do NOT understand how they keep selling. The last "owner update" we went to, they wanted 47K for a 4 bedroom. And I think that was NET after they "bought" our 3 bedroom back. But I am the one that can't be trusted because mine is only being sold for $1. I mean - even if i was duping you....you are only out one dollar, or in most cases nothing??!!!???
How did this industry get so twisted? And then scammers pounce on owners who are struggling, furthering the downward spiral. I guess I do not understand the logic of not trying to help the current owners sell. If they stopped spending the extra money on new buildings, and charged a commission or even took the full amount - they could use their high pressure sales tactics and still make tons of money off the old units. All the while keeping the MF's coming in and keeping owners "happy", which in turn helps the industry. I guess the margin on those new units is just THAT lucrative. le sigh.
It is really such a shame, because we really did enjoy our timeshare. Even after knowing we paid retail!

OK, OK, one of my freaking Wastegate examples.
We started with an ugly stepsister Wastegate resort, which we got roped into in the exit tent on our second-ever tour, WVV, when it was two buildings, a clubhouse and a lotta mud. We did the EOY thing, added the other year a year later, and wound up buying some more resale.
I can't remember the exact situation, but what I wanted to do some time later was to "swap" one or some of them for the same thing, different weeks, so that we had contiguous weeks. Yeah, that's it . . . our EOYs were Week 23 and the two resale weeks were consecutive November weeks, and I wanted them all running together.
I got a call from a fast-talking lady with a heavy New York or New Jersey accent at 9:00 PM one Sunday evening and the short of it was that she would take back what we owned and sell us one 3-bedroom week, for $25K!!! She was extremely obnoxious and pushy.
First thing Monday morning, Orlando time, I called Mr. S's Executive Assistant, whom I happened to have made friends with, somehow. She immediately said, "Let me have our mortgage administrator give you a call" She did, and I still remember her name, Beth Driggs. They did the swap I wanted for the cost of recording the new deed, I believe $20.
OK, just the one story this time.
Doncha think it would be smarter to do the right thing the first time, and not have someone talking about you on the Internet 15 years later? But, like we have been saying, their concept of the right thing is totally unrelated to right and wrong as normal people understand the concept.
