  • Question about lead generation

    Hello,

I am doing a translation of a traveling site that deals with Timeshare apartments. In the text the term "lead generation" tends to get used frequently. For example "if the unit is ‘lead generation’ contact...” or "lead generation unit". While I am generally familiar with the term I am very unsure of what it means in this context. Could someone maybe explain to me what it means?

I apologies if this is not an appropriate question for the forum!

I don't recall the use of any such terminology. Perhaps it is unique to the writer and an inquiry there may get you the answer.

My guess, complete guess, would be "the time frame lead was used in paint". But really its an unusual term that I've never heard before.

You might also use a stretch and assume it was the Led generation, but who knows how popular Zeppelin was wherever this was.

          Hey,
Thanks for responding! Actually "lead generation" is usually a term about creating leads to sell to for companies. It is often used at advertising agencies and such. How this relates to the units I still haven't figured out. I think maybe it is a room or such that you get to try for a while to entice you to buy a membership, but I am very unsure. You are totally right in that I should just contact my employer and ask. Or maybe I should go with the whole Led Zeppelin thing, because that would be awesom

          Anyway, thanks again!

A lead is the term used for a posible sale. Lead generation is when posible qualified clients are procured through use of marketing tools. These marketing tools in the timeshare industry include the free trips, free money and incentives of all kinds. When a person invites you to see a timeshare property while you are visiting a new area and you agree to go, you become a qualified lead.

Timeshares view anyone that stays on their property as bait for their sales sharks. They try to hook you with all kinds of goodies and keep upping the ante til you bite. It's a numbers game like any other sales. The more they annoy you with annoying phone calls, the more people will just give in and come to the sales presentation. I've fallen for a few over the years but now I just unplug the phone.

Some of the developers limit how often you can exchange into a property to once in four years so that fresh meat is always assured.
