  • New member and Shell Time Share

    Greetings everyone.

I am new to this forum and to timeshare. I had gone to about 10 differnt 90 minute speaches and never bought a timeshare until a few days ago. I bought one through Shell. Everything I saw about them and what they had to offer seemed great, and better then all the other 9 I had gone to.

Can anyone share their thoughts and feelings with this particular timeshare? They of course say they are the "best" and have been around for over 40 years. But I would like to see what "You" all have to say about this particular timeshare.

Also, if any of you could help with advice managing my points, utilizing them for vacations, and also utilizing RCI as my back up.

    Thanks Again.

vegasbuffs - I am going through somewhat the same thing - trying to find a timeshare that fits us best.

Can I ask though, what was the biggest selling point about Shell that made you comfortable in purchasing them over the other 9 companies? Any help or pointers for us would be greatly appreciated.

Shell Vacations has some wonderful locations. We own at one of them in Whistler.

Shell is building some "pure Shell" locations like the one in Napa but for the most part when you buy a shell resort, you can buy shell points at that resort or non shell deeded TS at that resort.

If you like lets say the shell resort in Hawaii, IMHO, I'd buy a non-shell, deeded unit at that shell hawaii TS. If you want the flexablity of shell points buy one of the shell vacation point packages from the TS resale company in Arizona ( www.timeshareaz.com ) which sell Shell points at ~$1/pt instead of paying $4-$5/pt which shell charges.

      Good Luck

I'm sorry I didn't make it clear in my other post.

Rescind your purchase NOW!! If you want shell, buy shell resell and save 60 -80 % over what shell charges for their points.

        Good Luck

If you decide to rescind, you must do it within the time limit they gave you in the contract and do it exactly how they specified to do this in your documents.

Most likely, it has to be sent by certified mail with a signature receipt so you know that they received it. You should have instructions too where to send it to.

Let's know what you decide to do. Good luck.

            Response to Iconnections

Well, the good thing is, where in NO contract. We signed up for a 2 year deal for about $1500 which gives us 6000 points, and all we paid was like $169 down. That way, we pay no HOA, and if in two years we decide not to buy, we are not obligated too.

Where and how would you suggest looking to buy Shell a Shell Membership with points for less...Wasnt too clear on that.

            Thanks

Bump - more feedback on Shell Timeshare Please

Hello all, I am sure more of you either have purchased Shell, or have heard of it, can you all please give your feedback on this timeshare. Also, does anyone know where you can buy it from a private individual and purhaps save money versus buying it directly through Shell and what the Point differences might be.

All I know is that they are selling timeshares in Hawaii because they invited us on a tour over there but we didn't go. From what I see from this link, is that they have many more.

So you bought an exit package

Shell has some nice resorts, in great locations. The only problem I have with them is the annual cost. Say for example the Kauai Beach Boy. It takes 4775 for a ov week in a 1 bedroom, and the annual cost for 4800 points is over $900 , higher than any other resort in Hawaii for that type of suite.
We looked at the resort, and the 2 bedroom ocean front suites require 6750 in points for a week, with annual fees of over $1100. We own many Hawaiian weeks, that we use and none of them have fees anywhere near those levels.
