I have just cancelled a Westgate timeshare in Florida with the 10 day cancellation period. Question is do I dispute the credit card transaction for the deposit or do I wait for westgate to refund?

Hi and welcome to TS4Ms.
I would call your credit card company and "alert" them that you are disputing the charges as you have requested a refund and will not be paying the charge.
Let us know how u make out.
As far as "canceling" your purchase, did you following the rescinding instructions exactly?

I am from the UK. I sent the cancellation letter by certified mail on the 16th of October, contract was signed on 10th October so well within 10 day limit, they received cancellation letter and all merchandising materials back today (22nd October) I have certified mail receipt which proves it was sent on 16th October. Should I contact them in the next few days to make sure they are processing the cancellation?

If you do, don't believe anything they say. They have been known to be tricky, nasty and dishonest.

Originally posted by GrayFal View PostAs long as the instructions to cancel said to send it certified mail and you have all your receipts you should be fine. As Tony said, this group is not known for being trustworthy.
So should I call them or just keep my receipt, dispute credit card payment and wait for them to cancel contract.
Will they probably call me to try to get me to change my mind?
