  • Whats been your best timeshare holiday and why?

We have all been to some great timeshares, but looking back on it what was your very best timeshare holiday and what really made it for you?

    1. 2 Weeks in/on Kauai, December, 1999:

    LBR, oceanfront in the DCB
Point at POIPU, then known as Embassy Vacation Resort at Poipu, Oceanfront/Oceanview/end unit with wrap-around lanai, before degradation of resort buildings (after sales weasel Georgio told us no one ever trades in, and an end unit is the most desireable/expensive the same day as check-in) Took BIL and SIL.

This was the eye-opener, as, for the first time, I discovered that I could do better myself than any Guide had ever done the previous ten years.

Also, meaningful to me, we were there two weeks after Payne Stewart was to play in the Grand Slam at Poipu Bay, afte he was killed on Oct. 25, 1999. The banners were still up and his name was still on everything. Very moving. BIL and I played the course, the same place he woulda played. It became more moving to me 8 years later, for personal reasons. Wish I woulda asked for one of the banners.

    2. Any of our annual June weeks in Estes Park. "Adult Summer Camp"

    3. Our little fav spartan resort with threadbare sheets and pontoon boats in SW FL, any of many Januarys

    4. Most of our Spring Break getaways to Ozarks lake resorts with fam and friends. Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock Lake, Fairfield Bay, Horseshoe Bend, et al

My very best holidays are spent with family and friends at local timeshares on the beach.
Nothing fancy just great beaches and great company.
This year I've got 3 units the same week at the same resort thanks to RCI, where we will all congregate again for our yearly pilgrimage.

I've also had some great timeshare stays but I'm sworn to secrecy.
What happens at those timeshares stays at those timeshares.

There are two that I can't separate. The first, in time, was Sint Maarten in the Caribbean. That's when our daughter got married. The second was Grand Cayman, two years later. That's when our oldest son got married.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

It is very hard for me to pick just one that was the best over the last 24 years of TS vacations. Also some were excellent because of the resort and others were excellent because of the location. I will try to pick one based on location and another based on resort.

Best location and resort: Hilton Grand Vacation Club on Avenue of the Americas ( 6th Ave. ) in New York City. I specified resort for this one even though it was the location because we have also stayed at the Manhattan Club, and HGVC West 57th Street on other trips to NYC. We far prefer the Hilton Vacation Club.

Best Resort: Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya and Grand Mayan - Nuevo Vallarta. We prefer the Riviera Maya because of the cultural attractions in the area but both resorts were the absolute best for service, amenities, unit quality, etc. We have stayed 10 weeks in the Grand Mayans.

We are not owners at any of the above resorts. All our visits were exchanges through SFX.

This is exactly our feeling too but most were spent at the timeshares we own on the beach in CA (#1 favorite), HI (#2) and MX (#3). We love MX too but have never shared that with family or friends but we meet up with the same people each year and they are considered friends now.

The reason CA wins is that we do not have to deal with flying and renting a car so is very convenient and still feels like a vacation away from home because we are on the beach! How lucky these people are who live on the beach year-round.
What we also like is looking forward the whole year to our next stay at one of these three locations.
