Safes?

gun safes I understand, and know a few people with those. But growing up there were no medicine cabinet locks, etc., we were instead taught to keep our hands off what wasn't ours. Do people now instead hide things and lock them up vs teaching their children? I do find that unusual.

I don't know anyone with a home safe, except gunowners. I will allow for the possibility that no one I know is wealthy enough to need one for hiding their expensive jewelry and excess cash. But I do know plenty of people on meds that are also parents, and locking med cabinet is also not typical. Maybe it's a regional thing?

It's not typical to lock up meds but it should be. In my area foster parents are required by law to lock up meds. Just like the requirement for foster parents to learn CPR, it's a good idea for all parents to do, it's just not yet common.

Also, I'm betting many people who have safes aren't sharing that info, even with friends. It's not exactly a good idea to tell everyone if you have $50,000 in cash and a ton of Oxy, kwim?

Anyway, I just thought it was odd that the hotel part of a resort would have safes but the TS part didn't. I don't really care, personally, because if I need a safe I can buy a small portable one. Just thought it was odd.

Interesting about the foster parents! I agree that it's probably good practice to lock up meds, and unlikely to become common.

Agree also that it's odd to have safes in one part of a development but not in the other.

For sure if I had $50k in a safe (or mattress) I wouldn't be telling people, except the person that has to deal with clearing out my belongings when I'm gone. But I don't think it would be such a problem for friends to know if I had a safe.

We had one on our last trip although usually we have no need for one. My wife used it to store some pearls she had bought as a gift.

There is also a question of how safe is the safe. I recall a discussion 10-15 years ago about how easy it was to get into a hotel/timeshare safe.

I fully agree with that. It didn't look particularly study in truth. Thankfully everything was still there by the time we left. I would have ended up having to replace the pearls from Mesenso if they'd have gone missing. Something from here I suppose.

I haven't seen a safe at the 20 or so Worldmark properties we have visited. Since there isn't daily maid service maybe its not a problem. At all of the Mexico resorts we stayed at there are safes in the bedroom closets.

I bought a suntan lotion flask for a cruise and noticed these can type safes. This isn't the website I bought mine at but it looks like the same type of products.

Most of the Diamond resorts have safes, which we have only used a couple of times. Nice to know they are available if needed. I can imagine that the decoy can safe might be a good idea - maybe even in your luggage.

I never even paid attention to the presence or absence of a safe in our timeshare exchanges, until 2 weeks ago when we were at Marriott Grand Chateau. We brought our I-pad this time, and did look for a safe to store it in while we were out of the unit. There was one, in the bedroom closet and it was very easy to use.
