The nice thing about timesharing is that you usually have different neighbors and not enough time to get into conflicts with them. Or have you had troubles there too, JLB,

John I see your point but for most people this is just a bad idea of just buying for exchange in my opinion! Why pay for a timeshare so you can pay mf's every year plus exchange fee's every year to make a exchange and taxes?
It would be easier and less money to just rent each year for the place you want to go. It took me one day last year to book a Maui resort of our choice for May for our daughter's honeymoon and it was much less than the mf's if we owned there.

It's not like it was 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago. The gloom and doom projections of "renting" used to sell timeshares did not come true. The opposite did. Timeshares became what "they" threatened traditional lodging would become, and traditional lodging, aka renting has become what timeshare was promised to be.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

This is not even taking into account the bonus weeks I get each year which lowers the daily cost even more if I use them.
There are many areas where renting is cheaper but definitely not NYC and some other high demand areas with limited supply.John
