When I was at The Quarter House in New Orleans a couple months back, there were a couple folks with dogs there. I didn't ask about restrictions. I was also surprised to find that they had daily housekeeping and they allow smoking in the units.

Four Seasons Aviara allows small dogs. Caribe in Sanibel also allows small pets.

As for Silverleaf... I can understand limiting pets to full time owners rather than units than turn over weekly, but that's not the case with Silverleaf since owners also only stay a week or so. I think Silverleaf is just trying limit the number of dogs on the property due to complaints from non-petters... and perhaps due to maintenance issues... but owners were promised pet-friendly so they've not reneged on that...

There is a cute video review/tour of a guy and his little dog at Aviara. It's not just pet-tolerant, but really pet -friendly, including dogwalkers on request.

Just a correction on that point ... Aviara allows large dogs ... assume they are 'nice dogs' ..:-) ..but pets are allowed (for an one time extra cleaning fee ($175 for 2 bbd unit) ) only for owners ... when we were looking to buy our first week I asked on the weight limits and as is so typical of a 'four seasons' staff response .. quote" Oh ..Mr. Henderson ...we would never ask a lady her weight" .... true story ... we now have a bunch of weeks and enjoy escaping our Ontario winters at Aviara ...

We are pet owners, five of 'em, but even if I knew of pet-friendly resorts, which I do, I have decided not to encourage it.

Much like smoking in units, it is something that the overwhelming majority of owners would not want.

But, an all-pet-owner resort would be nice, for those who like to take their pets and don't mind that others before them do too.
