ARDA-ROC, the phony ''cosnsumer'' wing of ARDA is supporting legislation in Arkansas that amends the existing timeshare laws to make member communication with other HOA members more difficult and expensive. As usual, they try to cover their despicable power play with cries of ''protecting privacy''.
Here is the bill:

Currently, as in most states, all members have the right to inspect and copy the membership list, and use it for legitimate purposes of communicating with other members concerning affairs of the resort. This can be a problem for developers maintaining control, so the weasels of ARDA want to make it more difficult for uppity members to challenge them. This bill allows management to review what a member wants to sent out and exercise prior censorship of its content or reject it entirely. Then, they can control how it is sent out, and charge the member wanting to send it out for the cost. There is every incentive to find a means that is particularly costly to create an additional burden on those uppity members. With access to a list, members can address and stuff their own envelopes, and that is what has actually been done in member challenges to the status quo at HOA's that I am personally familiar with.
Hopefully someone is the legislature in Arkansas will wake up to the Stalinist tactics of the ARDA-ROC in support of developer dictatorship at HOA resorts.
