  • Possible to sell timeshare if I still owe on it?

Bluegreen, 32,000 points, need to get out of it. What is the best way?

    Thanks,
    Bev

If you still owe on the loan, you will not be able to sell it.

Bluegreen might (or might not) take it back as a deed in lieu of foreclosure, but I'll let someone who knows Bluegreen's current policies say more about that.

I see my attempt at humor got deleted.

You've been around here long enough that I think you already know the answer, but were hoping . . .

For most timeshares there is no exit strategy, so in your case it would likely be that you have to pay it off, then pay someone to take it, and hope they actually do.

      Pretty neat deal, huh?!

& don't expect any pity from those still enamored with theirs. The problem of the thousands who want to unload is not a concern of theirs.

        Possible? Anything is possible.
        Likely? No.
Will it hurt to try? Probably not.

So post it online on eBay, Redweek, tug, Craigslist, etc. get creative.

To clarify, when you say you still owe on it are you talking the intial mortage, or just this years MF's as this will have a significant impact.

Although that is an important question, the fact is that there is no resale market even for "paid for" timeshare . . . because of the ongoing maintenance fee, and no way to get rid of it when you're done with it.

In other words (or the same words said again ), the real reason there is no resale market is the ongoing obligation to the annual fee.

As usual, JLB is totally negative. There are timeshares that can be sold and timeshares that have deedback programs and he knows it.

Tell that to the three people I was able to pass my timeshare onto in the "non existent" resale market you say there is. Just because you can't get rid of yours, doesn't mean there aren't many others who can. I wonder what it is we are doing differently than you are?

OK, I invited that when I did not qualify post 6 by saying "some" timeshares, perhaps "most".

Certainly, there is a very small percentage for which there is a resale market.

To suggest anything more than that may be providing false hope, which is what sucks people into resale scams, so we, here, should be careful not to do that.

Heck, why don't I just forward the dozen resale emails I get every day. Just let me know how you want me to provide them. Maybe I'll just post the "Subject" of them for a few days, and y'all can pick the one you want. I've already deleted today's, but I'll go get them from Recently Deleted:

This seems pretty simple doesn't it?

Get rid of mine through your secret methods, or any method . . . I don't care . . . and I won't have anything to post about any more.

If they are so great, just take mine for "free."

Well since you keep marketing them as useless mugwump swamp resorts is it any wonder nobody will take it?

It's not our fault you bought crappy timeshares that you can't even give away.
I've always maintained that if you cannot pay for a timeshare in full up front, you shouldn't buy it.

I didn't have the heart to say that cause I'm not sure he likes me already! I was tempted to say if it would get him to quit complaining I'd gladly take them off his hands but my better half would kill me.

And you would still hear him complain.

You will have a hard time selling it here, tug, redweek and websites like this because every one here knows what they know. However, since there is a sucker born every minute it is entirely possible to sell it in the news paper or craigslist.
