  • Consecutive weeks at the same resort. Do you do it often?

Just curious how many of you do consecutive weeks at the same resort.

This year I was lucky enough to get two sets of two consecutive weeks at my favorite little beach pad.

I almost feel like it's becoming a second home.
I hope to do it again next year.
I even have the same unit so that's a plus.

Careful, RCI will impose a 1 in 4

We do this always when we travel to Orlando,FL, Hilton Head Island or Myrtle Beach,SC. We use II and they do impose the 1 in 4 rule.

Interesting.....I guess it depends on where you're staying.

We stayed at Marriott's Sabal Palms in Orlando last year, and will be staying there again this year, for a number of consecutive weeks. No problem with any 1 in 4 restrictions.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I used to do 2 or 3 consecutive weeks in Cancun every time after our first trip. When I owned at the Royals, most of the weeks were consecutive 2 or 3 week groups, and when we traded into other times we always looked to get 2 or 3 consecutive weeks, even if we had to change resorts.

My life has just gotten to the point where I am not locked into a school calendar. My only 2 week consecutive at the same resort has been to Morritts in Grand Cayman and I look forward to doing that again.

Most of my exchanges have been to very difficult to get places during prime season. Getting two weeks in a row 97% of the time is not an option.

Oh I seriously doubt that will happen at my frumpy little motel converted timeshare. Nobody but me wants to go there.

I think there may be a typo here, and II does not impose the 1 in 4.... ?

I'm exactly the opposite. We rarely stay an entire week, and usually let someone else use our extra days. Since DH changed jobs, he only gets 2 weeks vacation per year, and I am tied to the school calendar.

Well this year I am trying it with a local resort that can be a staycation.
I can't see myself doing it elsewhere unless it's Hawaii or the Caribbean.

But having the back to back weeks allows many of my friends to drop in because we have lots of
dates to choose from. We always have lots of visitors during the week we go so this is a first
having 4 weeks to choose from. I think it will be better because not everyone will visit at the
same time which tends to overwhelm the little resort parking lot. Plus I am just not up to
entertaining that many guests all at once in a very short week.
If this works out good I may try doing it again every year.

It's kind of nice exchanging in instead of being obligated to the weeks I already own so am
piggybacking these exchanges on my weeks that I own and also getting multiple units.
This way Everybody can have their own space.

I have done consecutive weeks in the same resort several times and do an annual family vacation every year for Passover/Easter and they always let us stay in the same units.

I also have done several back to back weeks at different resorts in Aruba and even to different Islands. The most interesting and challenging one was to Windjammer Landing in St. Lucia then what was supposed to be a short 40 minute flight to Barbados at the Residence at the Crane. LIAT airlines employees went on strike the week that I was in St. Lucia and even though the strike was over mid week my 40 minute flight took over 4 hours with an additional 3 and 1/2 hours waiting at the airport and not really sure if I would ever get to Barbados.

At the end I had 2 great weeks but I will never fly LIAT again.

We have stayed consecutive weeks at our home resort, Maui Lea at Maui Hill. In fact we are doing it again this summer. However, we do have to change units most of the time. We were very lucky when just dh and I went two years ago to be in the same unit for the entire two weeks we were there. This year we'll have to move. Oh well............

No can do, still in the workforce, I don't get enough time off to use 2 weeks on one trip and still have enough sick and *whatever* time left in the bank. Going to Cabo in November and know from experience that I will not want to leave after one week, but, tough crap. Sunset Beach is paradise to me, and if I won the lottery I would buy a winter month in a Montecristo house up the hill.

My dh can't take that much leave at one time . We probably wouldn't travel more than 5 nights/6 days (Mon. - Sat.) due to our commitment to our local church anyways.

What is the 1 in 4 rule?

I think some clarification may be needed, in that it the question is more geared to EXCHANGING for two weeks at the same resort. With the implemantation of points based systems is its now much easer to book two weeks at the same resort. Getting exchanges for back to back weeks is much more of a challenge.

I have never taken ANY vacation for two weeks, let alone two timeshare weeks back to back. Like many others, I am still apart of the workforce and a junior with only 3 weeks a year vacation. We generally do one week in the summer to the MIL's, another somewhere south during the winter. The rest tend to be 3 or 4 day stays that involve a stat holiday that we can back onto (I also have a volunteer, and personal day)

My time here has lead me to do some research though, and come 2015 I will have 4 weeks vacation so that may allow for a two week stay. I have also found out that I can do "leave with income averaging" but have to take a minimum 5 weeks at one time. I am SERIOUSLY considering this option if I can make the trip worthwhile. I don't want to wait until I am 60 or older to take a trip to Europe, and think that one week trips are not worth the hassle. That may prompt me to get two weeks back to back at the same resort.
