We stayed three weeks in the same unit once on Maui at the Maui Sunset. Not having to move is so nice and convenient. We are lucky to own a two week interval so always have the two weeks together in the same condo with an ocean view. Our stay, in Hawaii, is always at least four weeks so we need to rent one week. Our two timeshare condos on Maui are fixed week/units with an ocean view so I could stay forever.

We are renting two weeks later this year at another oceanfront condo (Laguna Surf) and will stay in the same unit too so very convenient. We normally use our own floating week and rent the second week so have to move units but they make it pretty painless so not really a big deal.

We like the idea of renting extra weeks rather than buying more timeshare weeks or points because we can go anywhere any time without having to plan a long time in advance.

With the implemantation of points based systems is its now much easer to book two weeks at the same resort. Getting exchanges for back to back weeks is much more of a challenge.
That was my thought. We've done back-to-back, but I didn't initially reply because we did it with BG points. Hubby only has three weeks of vacation a year, but we take two of them for a trip to Florida every other year, and we like to get out there and stay put, then take our time coming back (although we're considering doing Orlando the first week and then stopping in Tennessee or Georgia on the way home for part of the second week next time to see how that works).

We have never had 2 weeks back to back at the same resort. We have had 2 units for the same week at a resort.

That was our problem too this year. I booked a week at Laguna Beach and my husband booked the flights to Hawaii so we had to make a choice which timeshare unit to use but since the airline tickets were not refundable, it was Hawaii. This happens when two people start making timeshare reservations in one family and not tell the second half. I was pretty upset. It was our plan to skip Hawaii but Maui seems to lure. We are trying to decide to go or not to go next year but three weeks are waiting for us already but it is the week in between that we need to book. I would like to go to another island but I am not the only one to decide.

Now that we are retired, we rarely do less than two weeks in a row. But not always at the same resort or, even, the same state. Last May we spent a week in Sedona and then drove to LV for 6 days. We flew into PHX and out of LAS an got a great deal on a car rental because they seemed to want to get the cars out of PHX for the summer. All in all, it cost us the same, or maybe less, than staying in one place the entire time.

When we go to PV in the winter, we book multiple weeks, at the same resort if we can get it. Sometimes it takes me months to put it all together.

We have done many 2 weeks back to back exchanges with SFX. All our many stays at the Grand Mayans in Riviera Maya and Nuevo Vallarta were for 2 consecutive weeks as well as some other exchanges like Hawaii.

This year we've did back-to-back weeks at the same resort. In the past we've had simultaneous units for the July 4th extended family trip with all 3 kids and their families, but this year we were able to adjust reservations due to work commitments for a few cross-over days. I liked it so much, we're repeating it next year! Might even span 3 weeks if I can pick-up a cheap adjacent week exchange. I won't be there the entire 3 weeks, but it's cheaper to exchange then rent 4 weekend days.

Speaking of extended trips, I was able thru my Royal Holiday membership (they give you bonus days at certain resorts if you pay your MF on time), to book two weeks in January in PR for one week's MF, so I'll be a mini snowbird!

So how did you do the July 4th trip? How many days/units did you end up with?

                    Nice deal with RHC!

I am going for 3 weeks to Morritts but own those weeks.
I am doing 2 weeks in St Thomas but own those weeks.

I have done 2 week at Royal Resorts Cancun on an II exchange.
I like to go for 2 weeks at a time but work part time with a flexible schedule.

Are you sure you want to know, I can barely keep track of the comings and goings.

At La Sammana rental F-S, but won't count that as it was a different resort

Unit #1 S-S exchange to MFV (I worked T-W-T and drove back down Thurs nite). DS and friends T-W, then DD2 and family in W-T-F
Unit #2 exchange to MFV DD2 moved to their own unit F-F, but only stayed to Thurs due to SIL work. Room assignment made move very easy as it was directly across the hall.
Unit #3 exchange to MFV DD1 and family F-F, SIL worked part of week, but down for long weekend
Unit #4 BF F-F owned unit
Unit #5 Sister and family S-S owned unit
Unit #6 my second week, DS and friends joined us in our unit W-Sat for 4th of July weekend, then BF moved from her Fri unit to stay with me until Sun check-out (we had to get a spa day at the end of the two weeks to relax!)

Many times over the years. Especially if it has a 1 in 4 rule. If we want to stay longer I just book 3 to 4 weeks back to back. The last time I did that was at the Houses at Summer Bay. I just booked 3 weeks in a row. I would have booked a 4th week but it was time to head home for Thanksgiving.

So if a resort has a 1 in 4 you can book consecutive weeks in the same year?

Yes, in the past you could book multiple units in the same week or multiple consecutive weeks. Better verify that they still do that before you try to schedule it, they change the rules a lot.

Yes, as long as they are back to back, OR if you are booking 2 simultaneous weeks.

I am hoarding TSs because my goal is to have 6 weeks in a row of a "vacation Home." I would probably want to switch locations at least once in that time, though.
