I just received this information from my timeshare resort, the Sheraton Buganvilias in PV. I think that is great and I wish all resorts would let their clients know about these scams. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2013/06/timesharerelease.shtm

I don't need to open it to guess that it is talking about scammy "resale" companies, not the "legitimate" industry scam.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

One other good thing about the Buganvilias Club is that they make transfer of ownership between to private parties very easy to do and hardly costs anything. It was the same for another timeshare we owned at the Grand Velas. Both resorts are very helpful with the transaction. Not all of them are crooks!
