With Bluegreen, we can make reservations 11 months out, and we generally do that if we want something in the summer or a shoulder season. We also do that with stuff we're sure about a year ahead of time, which generally means something we're not even going to try to fit into middle daughter's schedule. We've done reservations just two months out as well, but I prefer a longer lead time. I like lots of time for anticipation and planning, and getting the actual reservation definitely kicks the excitement level up.
I do have a rough plan for the next five years, and I sometimes eye possible RCI reservations that are two years out, but so far everything I've been interested in was available later. We've changed future plans totally on occasion, when we go somewhere new and decide we want to get right back there or whatever. So I think eight to eleven months out is ideal -- close enough I have a good idea where we'll be at when it's time to leave, but far enough that I have plenty of anticipation time.
