Contracted units, which are NOT exchanges, also need to pay the fee.

    Thanks

So what's the deal? Is this how the resorts get rid of last minute inventory, by giving the units to some sort of consolidator???

I could swear that a LM week that got snatched out from under me a few weeks ago ended up on TUGs "last minute" board through this person. A lot of the listings looked RCI LM familiar. Many of his same weeks were also on ebay under a different seller name. Could be a coincidence... or s/he could be one of the RCI-sanctioned "agents" that is allowed to do this after paying RCI a hefty fee for the privilege...

Were you getting it from RCI website or another source?

RCI website. The seller says he's under contract with RCI to unload their excess inventory. So, basically, RCI DOES allow rentals of exchanges, IF you pay them an undoubtedly hefty fee to become an "agent." Members still get screwed, that is nothing new.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Well, if they are allowed to rent inventory that doesn't get booked as exchanges within a certain amount of time, it follows that they allow agents to do the same thing as long as RCI gets a fee in the process.

I wonder if RCI would agree with that. It wouldn't be the first time someone started renting exchanges.

I would want to confirm with RCI before paying, especially since check-in is with a Guest Certificate, but I've heard about this before (not this seller, just the concept).

OP has not confirmed that renter will get a guest cert…..but what else would it be?

I hung out on a Travel Agents forum a few years back and RCI started sending me emails to participate in their rental program.
You have to meet minimum quotas which are pretty high. I think it was along the lines of doing at least 100 rentals a year to be in the program.
I never really pursued it but did click on the links in the email and it took you to a password protected site that looked like the resort certs website.
I tried to sign up but they wanted more info about my business etc. Of course I wasn't a travel agent so had nothing to send them so they denied it.
This may be part of that program.
