Sounds like he may be part of a post card type business.

He also had the deed notarized in Quebec so who knows.

Right! That's what I was thinking! I saw a copy of the deed he "bought" from the previous owners (a couple from Maine) and it said he paid $500 for it. And it's funny, because Innseason is being very careful about the Viking Ships and so forth and I am not sure how that happened! Very interesting....I love when a plot thickens! LOL!

Washington building and then not until complaints prior to the 5 PM actual check in. There were several things during that week that made me wonder if the place was being run and maintained properly. It had been my favorite resort in the Lincoln area.
Right. But-311 IS in the Mt. Washington Bldg- according to the map I have. Also, I thought check-in was 4pm? What were the complaints? Problems with units? I know you like Pollard Brook and it does get consistent good ratings on Trip Advisor. I like it ok. Like South Mountain better for the ambiance, but this freebie became available for the perfect week for us, so I grabbed it.

Wow! Good work detective Sally Hoover! I knew there was something strange about it from the beginning. Anyway- tonyg- yes- the unit I acquired would be a great unit if it wasn't damaged - I did my due diligence from afar, and had no reason to believe there was any issues from all the info. I gathered. I checked the map as you know- was on TUG inquiring- called the resort- asked other owners- I thought I struck a gold mine with a free timeshare- week 31 in the White Mtns. right after my week 30 in Vermont- 2 bedroom loft (almost like a 3 bedroom) corner unit- top floor- good views of tennis courts and mountains- quiet- back of resort and attached to the main recreational facilities like the pool and gym area. Sigh......

Also, as far as the notarizing in Quebec, since Timeshare Nation works with Timeshare Equity Service (monique)- they have an office in Quebec and one in Mexico. Ha...ha....

tonyg- I also think that now that the developer is building Riverwalk, money is going into that project at the expense of Pollard. Here he sells South Mountain to Blue Green only to build a new resort instead of making improvements to the ones he has/had. Don't get it.

Got a response from the General Manager today who states that there was never any ice/water damage in the building. (so-what- the other owner is making this up?). He said the unit was never uninhabitable except for now with this project. Anyway, he claims that the entire third floor was closed down because it is a construction zone and the units will be done in another 2 weeks, with new carpeting, sofa and chairs, mirrors and entire new master bathroom. He said the kitchen was updated only a few years ago. He said they have been doing one floor at a time. A lot of things still don't add up for me, but I am giving it the benefit of the doubt and we shall see!

With my experience last year with the management, I would assume they are at best clueless. The promotion of the new project seemed rather light last year and it is coming at what may be an unfavorable market time. Things seemed to improve when Innseasons got involved, but that was somewhat short-lived. The resort has grown beyond what the amenities can comfortably support at times.

Will do. I am still suspicious. First off- Lie #1- there was absolutely water damage in that unit last year as the other owner saw it with her own eyes and she was not able to use it. Lie#2- he said he tried to call me yesterday and I had my phone on and with me the entire day and it never rang and it never showed any missed calls. What will be Lie # 3? I am following up with him in a couple of weeks. For him to write an email like he did and then have me get there this summer and the unit be closed, that would really be a lot of nerve and hard for me to imagine a GM doing something like that. He said the units would be done in 2 weeks and I am going to hold him to it. Let's see if he send me the pics of the unit as he promised. I already have pics of two other units, so I will be able to tell the difference in case he is scheming to send me pics of a different unit. But- hey- he already lied twice...

Yes, but now Innseasons is handling sales and VRI is managing and from what I understand they are supposed to be a decent company. Fact is, if they don't do some improvements, sales will go down altogether and people will default on their maintenance fees. What do you mean by "The resort has frown beyond what the amenities can comfortable support at times"?

The outdoor pool and hot tub is a zoo in the summer months - week 31 should be a crowded one. The newer buildings are quite a walk from the pool. VRI usually does a good job of resort management, but not at PB from what I saw the 2 weeks I was there last summer.

The assistant manager tried a few lies on me last year when quite a few people(owners too) were waiting at 4 PM for their unit to be ready. I called him on it when he said they weren't expecting this many people to check in.

Oh, yes. I figured as much. I love going to the pool and that was my concern, too, as they only have one outdoor pool and quite a number of units. I guess I will have to get down there early. I have also been spoiled there in the past because I have gone XMAS week and the resort in pretty empty because everyone is skiing and I have had the indoor pool and hot tub, and the sauna and gym pretty much to myself.

That is crazy about the unit not being ready at check-in time. That happened to us at XMAS- they said the people in it before us didn't check-out and they couldn't get a hold of them! I got no answer when I asked why they didn't remove their stuff at check-out and clean the room to be ready for us! They offered to pay for dinner until they could resolve it - it was too early for dinner- or take another unit which is what we did.

At Pollard Brook they have a form that owners fill in to indicate whether or not they are going to use the unit. You send it in like the beginning of the year. And- they also supposedly call in June for the summer so I don't get why they wouldn't have any idea how many people were coming. All lies....I would have let that assistant manager have it and let everyone in the room hear it!

We had something similar happen when we were checking in at Smuggs one year on a private rental. In that case, they had the Wyndham sales weasels holding the room keys and doing their spiels and it was holding everything up. There were big lines and I went berserk and made a big loud stink! Watch out, Pollard Brook! And these kind of things are why timeshares get a bad reputation.

I think that in a dozen stays at Pollard Brook we only went in the outdoor pool once. The indoor pool has been our refuge.
