    I was so excited when I finally made the exchange into Samoset, and did lots and lots of research on the area. We were so looking forward to our vacation. You can imagine our disappointment when three weeks prior to check in I broke my foot. Still looking forward to relaxing, I called the resort to see if we could be assigned to a second floor unit, (floor you enter on - there are no elevators), I explained the whole situation, but was told emphatically NO - you're on the first floor!! We did call RCI and complain, and got our TP back ~ but I just wanted to vent ~ thanks for letting me do that! I wonder how they keep their Gold Crown status with that attitude??

        I am sorry they had no flexibility in moving you.

        It makes me think it is a fixed week/fixed unit resort so they can't move an owner out of their owned unit.
        And there would be so few RCI exchangers this time of year, you could have been the only one for that unit type that particular week.

        Did they take the time to tell you WHY they could not move you?

          No they did not, just that they could make no exceptions for my mobility issue.

            What a shame....and I know I would have felt better knowing the reason!

            I found this list of resales through the resort website. And they ARE fixed week/fixed units. So the resort can only give you exactly what an owner deposits, especially in the summer.
            Why they did not just say that to you instead of just "No" is beyond me. Seems they may need some customer service training.

              Thank you all for sympathizing with me ~ makes me feel a LITTLE better!! Was looking so forward to this ~ I just felt cheated. I already have next year booked ~ guess I'll look forward to that!!

                I exchanged into my home resort and got a different unit than was on the II confirmation. Usually I got the unit specified, so I asked why I got a different unit. The answer was they moved someone with a handicap into the unit that was supposed to be mine, because that unit had no steps to enter. The the unit lost was newer and a bit better, it was less soundproof so I wasn't very disappointed. Some timeshare management do care.

                  My experience at Samoset was the complete opposite. We were there on a summer exchange with 2 units and the occupants of both units had mobility issues (recent surgeries, back for one, leg for the other). We asked for 2nd floor for both and got them. That could mean that our units were 2nd floor to start with anyway or it could be that management has changed at Samoset and not for the better...

                    Oh, what a shame....it is truly a beautiful view. The attitude, however, sucks! Hope you are feeling better..
